WOULD YOU BUY THESE TWO STOCKS NOW?

Best World stock, Starhub stockOn 6 Feb 2016, Starhub stock went south by 6.7% in line with announcements that the company would be slashing its dividends. Closing at $2.75, a level which investors have not seen for some time, the stock went north a little to close at $2.79 on 10 Feb 2016. Starhub stock is currently oversold and the price was back to the Nov 2016 level. Will Starhub stock price rise after a “knee jerk” reaction from investors? Or will Starhub price reflect, going forward, a more dynamic business landscape with the proliferation of various services providers over the internet as well as the arrival of the fourth telecom player in Singapore, TPG Telecom?

WILL YOU BUY THIS HIGH-DIVIDENDS STOCK NOW?

Asian Pay Television Trust is currently trading at an undemanding Price-to-Earnings ratio of 9.8. At a Price-to-Book ratio of 0.481, Asian Pay Television Trust is undervalued. From a 52-week high of $0.64, the stock price of Asian Pay Television Trust has headed south, so much so that its dividend yield has become 17.59% with another website giving the dividend figure at 16.3%. Fundamental-wise, the Trust seems to have good figures to boost, except for its debt to EBITDA of 7.18 which seems high to me. Total debt of the Trust stands at $1.25 billion. In terms of Institutional Ownership, Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited has a 7.98% stake in the Trust.

WILL YOU BUY these THREE stocks with >20% POTENTIAL UPSIDE?

I chanced upon an article of Singapore stocks picks by some financial institutions in a local newspapers. No surprise since we are now in a season of “stock picks for Year 2017” which pretty characterizes the beginning of a year. Already, there is a plethora of Singapore stocks recommendations on the internet. But I do believe that retail investors do embrace such stock recommendation reports as they might serve as a guide for them in their investing for the year ahead. The important thing for retail investors is to scrutinize the underlying rationale of the analyst bullish recommendation and see whether investors believe in the business case. I share the six stocks from the article which I read below and their target prices.

The MISSING >5% DIVIDENDS BILLION-CAP STOCK at ALL-TIME LOWS!

In my post yesterday, I shared about eight Singapore stocks, each having a market capitalization of more than $1 billion, which are trading at lows. How lows is low? Well, I took as a rough gauge, within 5% from the 52-weeks low of the stock. Beside, each of the eight stocks pays a fixed dividend yield of more than 5%. The above attributes of the stocks seems an attractive proposition to investors, isn’t it? You may want to refer to the post here if you have not read it.

WILL YOU BUY THESE >5% DIVIDENDS BILLION-CAPS stocks NOW?

There are currently 8 Singapore stocks, each having a market capitalization of more than $1 billion satisfying the following criteria:

a) the stock is trading at less than 5% from its 52-week low and

b) the stock is offering more than 5% dividends yields

Some investors like billion-cap stocks as the companies behind the stocks are perceived to have some form of market size and fundamentals. And one way they might want to invest in these stocks is to invest in them when they are trading at lows like in criterion
a) above when the stock is trading at less than 5% from its 52-week low. At the same time, investors also want to be paid some dividends while holding the stocks. At the current market rate, a dividend rate of more than 5% seems pretty decent.

WILL THESE 11 STOCKS BECOME WINNERS in YEAR 2017?

Yesterday, was the final trading day for Year 2016. We can now review our investment portfolio for the year. We can also now start to analyze the performance of Singapore stocks in year 2016. And where good stocks have become undervalued in year 2016, will there be a chance that these undervalued stocks would become winners in Year 2017? Will it be all the more attractive if these stocks pay a fixed decent dividends and are good stocks with good fundamentals to begin with?

WILL YOU BUY this POTENTIAL 685% MULTI-BAGGER?

When it comes to valuing a stock, to determine whether an entry price is a reasonable one to pay for the stock, there are many common metrics used by investors. Price-to-Earnings ratio is one and Price-to-Book ratio is another as well as how low the price is against its historical price. Of the above metrics, one popular ratio used by investors is the Price-to-Book ratio since this ratio determines how much discount or premium a stock is trading against its book value and this ratio needs no comparison with similar metrics of other stocks.

[PART 1] TOP THREE STOCKS of POTENTIAL UPSIDE >50% for YEAR 2017

Dear readers, in my previous posts, I have listed down a total of 30 stocks picks from three analysts for year 2017. This number of recommendations might be a large number for retail investors to ponder on as they do not know what stocks from this list of 30 stocks to focus on: stocks with the largest upside to say the obvious. Hence in this post, I will list down the Nine stocks from the above list with a potential upside of more than 20%. How do I calculate this potential? Well, it is easy. The analysts have derived a target price for each of the recommended stock, so to calculate the potential upside, I would just use formula: (target price- stock price)/stock price x 100%. The stock price which I have used for my calculation was based on the stock price as of 23 Dec 2016. So based on the above formular here are the top Three stocks for Year 2017 from stock analysts with a potential upside of more than 50%.

ARE these THREE STOCKS the BEST BUYS for YEAR 2017?

Over the previous posts, I have been sharing with readers analysts’ stock picks for year 2017. Why do I did so? Well, I have done so because I thought it is an interesting kind of exercise from the analysts as they have to look at their “crystal balls” and make some forms of “forecasts” as to which stocks will be doing well for year 2017. This “forecast” of stock picks is all the more interesting since predicting which stocks will do well or so in a timeframe of a year is getting not easy since stocks markets are increasingly getting more and more dynamic. Hence, I have been sharing their stock picks with you readers since the analysts’ stock picks made are not easy and just come once in a year. Beside, I have strong belief that traditionally, investors at this time of the year would expect to read what the different financial analysts are picking! So am I!

Also, on the technical chart, the price has crossed from above the 200-Days Moving Average which is a typical downtrend sign. So what is this stock?
