While already embatttled Noble Group stock might be preparing to forget year 2015 with the stock price already slumped by more than 60% from all criticism, negative reporting, earlier this morning, just as most of Singaporeans were still asleep, Moody’s dropped a bombshell on Noble, by cutting its rating to “junk”. So right from the get-set-go of the Singapore stocks markets, sellers were out in full-force, causing Noble Group to head south by around 9% to close four cents lower at forty cents a share!

Eunoia JC? My perspectives on what could be better names

By now, the whole of Singapore is grappling with the name of Singapore’s newest JC: Eunoia JC, both in meaning and pronunciation (though the local media has provided some assistance in today’s newspapers). I will share with you my perspectives on the name of this newest JC.

Why Singapore stocks may produce an "Apple" stock one day?

Dear readers, Singapore stocks markets have always, in my own words, been following the global and larger stocks markets. Hence if US stocks are heading south overnight, then there is a strong likelihood that Singapore stocks will perform lower the following day.

Recommended Stocks which will deliver growth in year 2016

Dear readers, with the advent of online trading, investors should take the advantage of being able to trade, invest in any stock on any stocks markets worldwide.

Hence when it comes to stocks picking for year 2016, I would advise investors, if possible, to cast your net wider to look out for good stocks in the overseas markets; for Singapore's markets is such a small markets afterall!

Recommended Singapore Stocks for year 2016 (Part 1)

Dear readers, whenever it comes to this time of the year, many investors will take stock of what they have achieved when it comes to investing for year 2015. And it is no exception for myself, you can review about my review of my investing portfolio in this link here.

Achieved one personal Financial goal

Today is Christmas day and the atmosphere could not be too timely for it started to rain for few hours this morning. Finally, tomorrow is Christmas and Christmas is a time for celebrations and a time for personal reflections on what one has achieved over the year. I know the above sounds like a cliché but really, in my opinion, one must continuously track one’s progress towards the goals he or she has set for himself or herself in life; and yearly resolutions is really a common practice. So while we celebrate and take stock of our achievements for year 2015, it is also time to set resolutions for year 2016!

Today, Noble Group stock staged an impressive 4.5% rally today to close off today’s trading session at $0.46. I am holding on to Noble Group stock bought when Noble Group price was trending around $0.40 price range. Back then and you could still refer to my previous posts; I told readers that Noble Group stock price then was an attractive price to enter; this I really speak from experience since buying my first stock in Noble Group stock in year 2010 and making my first profits and foray into stocks investing. I have always done great in Noble Group stock and if some people say this is “luck”, I would like to differ; for Noble Group is really one of the stocks which I have researched widely into.

What do the financial experts predict for the stock markets outlook for year 2016?

2) Thom Hartmann also predicted that stocks markets will crash in year 2016

Popular investment techniques which I do not readily use

There are many investment strategies touted in investment literatures. “Buy and hold for dividends”, “Dollar Cost Averaging” are two of the most popular techniques given out to investors. As shared many times in my blog, I am no longer opting for a “buying and holding” strategy for dividends, I am focused in trading. “Buy and hold for dividends” works well for blue chip sectors when Singapore is industrializing and there, there was a core, growing and more predictable local stock market for these stocks; no so in today’s more volatile market conditions.

Two top Mediacorp actresses, Two Singapore stocks

If you have been watching Singapore’s television shows, you would not have missed a TV commercial featuring newly-minted Best actress, Rebecca Lim Hui Ling promoting a new range of jewellery from GoldHeart jewellery.

At the same time you should also not have missed veteran actress and the former Queen of Caldecott hill, Zoe Tay promoting a new launch of jewellery from Soo Kee jewellery.

Okay Yellen, Hello Santa Claus

Investors have been focusing too much on the interest rate hikes for the year till Janet’s most important speech on 17 December 2015 (Thu), Singapore time. So Janet Yellen has spoken something that investors have been anticipating all along: interest rate hikes and the Singapore stock markets, together with other stock markets have responded in a southward direction. Some say the interest rate hikes are good for the global stocks markets, some say the interest rate hikes are not good for the global stocks markets. Tom K says okay, that’s so much from Janet Yellen now (till we hear from her in future FOMC meetings on subsequent interest rate hikes) and we should say hello Santa Claus now!

Review of my Investment portfolio and strategies

Christmas is coming and every time when it comes to December, I will review what I have accomplished in the year. Time really flies and I am getting older with hair thinning as well. However, I would think of myself as getting wiser over the years. Generally, I am contented with my life. And definitely, I will also review how my investments has performed in year 2015.

So, the Federal Reserves have raised interest rates finally. Asian stocks markets rallied on the decision of the Federal Reserves. But is it time for investors to finally go into the stocks markets and pick up some valuable buys? Well, the temptation is there and I will not deny that it is attractive to pick up some of the oil and gas stocks, crude palm oil stocks but I will not enter into the stocks markets that fast now after the Federal Reserves’ decision.

Ngong Ping, Lantau Island

My wife and I had been to Lantau Island before during our Hong Kong tour some years back. Despite having been there, here we were, on our second day of our second Hong Kong tour to Lantau Island. We reckoned a visit to one of the many islands of Hong Kong is a must during our tour to the country; else it will be boring seeing the same cityscape like Singapore’s. We arrived via MTR train at Tung Chung MTR station before noon.

It was a hot day and we were surprised at the hundreds of people queuing at the cable car station to Ngong Ping, our favorite destination at Lantau Island.

In all the earlier posts on Noble Group stock, I have remained bullish on Noble Group stock though investors’ interest and confidence in the stock have waned ever since there is the likelihood of the stock being slapped with a “junk” credit rating by credit rating agencies. I have also mentioned how the stock then trading at a range of 39 cents to 40 cents a share is an attractive. Today, Noble Group stock rallied up by 7.69%, giving the stock a much-awaited boost. The background of the rally is none other than Noble Group looking into selling the remaining of its agricultural business to raise capital in order to improve its credit rating.

How to invest in the current stocks markets?

Investors are keeping a tab on what Janet Yellen will say as many expect the US Federal Reserves to finally increase the interest rate. Many are saying that if the investing community does not like how much basis points the US Federal Reserves will introduce for the interest rate hikes, then markets will have another “mood” swing!

Will this stock continues to be the top gainer stock for 14 Dec 2015?

Singapore Edevelopment stock was the top gainer stock on 11 Dec 2015 which rallied by 73.9% to close at $0.04. Singapore Edevelopment stock was a penny stock whose former name is called CCM Holdings. Mr Chan Heng Fai, a former banker who is known as a “white knight” for his experience in turning around companies became CEO of the company; the company was later called Singapore Edevelopment. Under Mr Chan’s leadership, Singapore Edevelopment diversified into IT business and investment in addition to its core property businesses which has a stake in USA and Singapore.

Singapore Stocks Markets: of desire and of flame

The Singapore stocks markets have not been doing well. Well, to me, this is expected since everyone will be keen to hear Janet Yellen speak on the US interest rate decision at the US Federal Reserves meeting. Some retail investors may not have performed well in their investments if they have been investing in the stocks markets, buying discounted stocks only to see that the stock price goes south again.

Wednesday, December 9, 2015

What should Investors do now?

Dear investors, the current global stocks markets are not easy to trade and invest; hence one should wait till the US Federal Reserves has their meeting before considering whether to enter into new positions in the stocks markets. The US Federal Reserves should provide the all important clues as to when the next interest rate hike will be. This is something on the radar of most investors. Beside this, some investors are wondering whether there will be a year-end rally next as some fund managers look to “window dress” their portfolios by taking a stake in them.

What are the next stocks to be privatized?

NOL stock receives an offer of $1.30 per share. If investors can recall, the IPO of NOL stock back in year 1981 was $4 a share (you can view a newspaper article here). The offer hence represents a discount of 67.5% off the IPO price of NOL stock. Similarly, another Temasek-linked company, Tiger Airways receives an offer of $0.41 per share for the proposed delisting. Compares this offer with Tiger Airways IPO price of $1.50, the discount is around 72.66% off Tiger Airways’ IPO price.

Noble Group stock: good entry point now?

In this post , I asked readers whether it is a good time to enter Noble Group stock then, I did not answer and as you could guess, then was not a good price to enter Noble Group stock. Today, Noble Group stock closed at $0.40 and looking at the price of Noble Group stock today, I could say that this is a good entry point for investors who still believe in the Noble Group story, though I must add that there is still a likelihood of Noble Group stock revisiting the lows of $0.38 although I do not think that there is a reason for Noble Group stock to do so now.

Consolidation in listed transport stocks

Yesterday, I blogged how SMRT stock could be a stock which investors could invested next. Today, SMRT stock rallied by more than 5%! Well it may be satisfying to me to think that SMRT stock rallied because of my blog post yesterday, well, its not. The rally of more than 5% in each SMRT and SBS Transit came about from hints today that the government may need to take over the railway transport in the future. Today, SMRT, SBS Transit, LTA and PUB signed an agreement on the sharing of expertise. It was also reported that LTA would be gearing up its engineering capability in railway work. All these, I believe is to set the path forward for the taking over of train and perhaps bus services too by the government in the future.

Is this the stock to invest next?

It has been reported that NOL is in discussion with potential parties for the sale of NOL stock. NOL stock is helmed by Singapore’s top scholar, Ng Yat Chung, who was a former Chief of Army, Chief of Defence and a former Senior Managing Director of Temasek Holdings. While the market continues to focus on NOL stock, there have been some sprinkling of talks revolving around another well-known listed transport company.

Do you still want to buy this stock?

Yesterday I shared with readers that I sold my Noble Group stocks for profits and today, Noble Group stock headed south by 1.2%. It seems that the stock markets once again heeded my calls or it could still be a coincidence. However, for me, I know that my selling of Noble Group stock at the right price again (before the stock price came down again) came from my years of specializing in Noble Group stock (you can read my archived Noble Group stock posts for more details).

Tom K: waiting for another buying opportunity in Singapore stocks

I sold off my Noble Group stocks today, making some decent profits. Some investors might think that Noble Group stock may head up further in price and selling off the stock might not be the best thing to do. “Let the profits run” is the adage for them. For myself, I relied on a set of decisions when I sold off Noble Group stock and when I sold Noble Group stocks, there is “no turning back” and I would wait for the next buying opportunity for Noble Group stock.

Noble Group stock: to be Noble as an investor is the winning strategy

On 24 Nov 2015, I posted a blog post on Noble Group stock, saying how at its current price of $0.40, the stock was oversold and made for good valuation for investors who would like to buy the stock at a bargain. Today, Noble Group stock headed north by 6.25% to close the trading day at $0.425. Noble Group stock, from what I read in the local newspapers was the worst faring STI stock year-to-date, ever since Noble Group was the subject of short seller reports and from then, it has attracted its fair share of critics; in middle Nov 2015, Noble Group attracted the comments from two rating agencies mentioning how they might reduce the credit rating of Noble Group stock if the company did not do anything to improve its liquidity ratio.

How to learn be Rich for Free?

Dear readers, becoming rich is not impossible, becoming rich is a choice. And when you make that choice to become rich, you will have to take the steps towards wealth creation, towards being rich.

Investment and trading are definitely routes towards wealth creation but not many people succeed in their investing journey towards wealth creation. This may be surprising to some since in this internet world, there is so much more information flowing all around us. But like everything in the world, there ought to be a balance. What kind of information is flowing around investors? Is it “noise”? Do some investors buy a stock on some stock analysts’ recommendation only to experience the “southing” of the stocks they buy?

A new Wealth Book in town

I was at the bookstore when I noticed a new wealth title. The book is called “The $100 Startup”. The essence of the book is simply the idea that one can become wealthy if they are to harness on their Passion and Skills to solving a Problem in the society. For example, if a person’s Passion is eating great food and his skills is writing, then he can look into starting a business writing about some kind of exotic food that the market will pay to read reviews of.

Focus on “How” and not “How much”

When it comes to investing and trading, many investors are fixated on how much they can profit from the stocks markets. By having this focus on “How much”, many investors would easily be swayed by the emotions of the markets. This usually takes the form of speculation, buying in when a stock is rocketing up, only to find that the “Big Boys” are starting to sell the stocks away or it can take the form of trying to average down a “losing stock” when the stock can actually still head lower. I would like to advise investors to steer away from the “How much” mentality to the “How” mentality.

Wednesday, November 25, 2015

Are you an “Investor” or a “Banker”

Investors generally invest in a stock for long-term growth prospects of the company by holding some shares of the company. Thus some investors like to think of themselves as shareholders of a particular company or even a joint-owner of the company. Generally, I like such notion of an investor having a stake in a company. Though I am a full-time employee holding a job, being an investor allows me to think in such a way that I am owning some companies.

Noble Group stock: attractive at current price

Noble Group stock is oversold, according to the RSI and I believe that the selling is overdone. Noble Group stock has been the subject of short sellers reports but since its announcement of a large decline in its net profits, both Moody’s and S&P have cited credit rating concerns with Noble Group’s financials and this has led to further southing of Noble Group stock price.

How you can win the game of stocks even if you think you have “lost”

The week of 16 Nov to 20 Nov 2015 was to me a tempting trading week. As expected, the minutes of the US Federal Reserves pointed to a likelihood of US interest rate hikes. When that minutes were released, US stocks actually headed up. To some, this should led to a decline in US stock indices as we have already observed from the so many “interventions” of the US Federal Reserves’ rate hike clues on the stocks markets. Singapore stocks markets followed in the footsteps of the regional, global stocks markets in all these euphoria, I initiated a “Buy” call on a stock at a certain price.

One show which investors should watch

Every Saturday night, I will tune in to a show which I enjoy very much. The show is screened on one of the Star Hub’s paid channels and it is called “Somewhere Streets”. “Somewhere Streets” is a unique travel show that takes viewers to different countries via a walking webcam mounted on the traveler. As its name implies, the show does not zoom into the common places of interests in the different countries, rather it is a show focusing on the different streets and the common life of the people living around the streets. This show is very relaxing to watch, especially coupled with the very lovely song. There are always surprises too as the viewer will not know when the next turn of the street will toss out.

Investment education, Wealth Creation and Entrepreneurship in Schools

Singapore has now two Education Ministers. Ng Chee Meng focuses on schools while Ong Ye Kung focuses on continuing skills. My take on the double-portfolio of the Education Ministry is that this is a correct direction to take Singapore forward. Singapore today is not Singapore decades ago when if you are a graduate, you will have a nice job with a nice pay in general. In fact, in today’s Singapore, good high-paying jobs are highly-coveted.

Another perspectives on Singapore stocks performance

Lacklustre Singapore stocks performance are usually explained in terms of the performance of the regional and international stocks markets performance. This is because Singapore stocks markets, is a price taker and not a price maker as we are shaped by how the US, China and Europe stocks markets perform. However, I would like to share one more perspective that contributes to the lacklustre showing of Singapore stocks.

How to become rich from your job?

I know many people who are not happy at their jobs, because of remuneration matters. Many people think that they deserve a better pay and hence are not happy every day going to work, spending long hours at a job they do not love and one which does not pay them as much as they expect. Unless one has a high salary, it really takes some work to create wealth from one’s savings.

JUMBO STOCK: one price catalyst

Jumbo stock has a strong IPO showing before heading south; however it is still a respectable performance so far for this “chili crabs” stock. Jumbo stock has also attracted some prominent investors, including the boss of a listed company in Singapore. Going forward, should one buy, hold or sell Jumbo stock?

A chance encounter with the late Mr Kuek Leng Joo

Singapore has lost a business leader, a philanthropist, an environment advocate and a photography enthusiast in the late Mr Kuek Leng Joo, the Deputy Chairman of City Development Limited. Being attuned to financial and investing news, I have long ago been familiar with the names of Mr Kuek Leng Beng and Mr Kuek Leng Joo, one of the richest families in Singapore with businesses including Hong Leong Asia, City Development Limited and Hong Leong Bank with them being prominent figures in Singapore.

The Game of Wealth

Robert Kiyosaki will be coming to Singapore to stage a financial and wealth creation event. Robert Kiyosaki is most famous for his first book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” which presents to the world the income sheet, balance statement of an individual. If one thinks that Robert Kiyosaki is famous for just this, one will not have benefitted from Robert Kiyosaki’s thinking. To benefit fully from Robert Kiyosaki, one should read as much of his latter books as possible. If you read his latter books and believe in these concepts, I believe your financial life will improve and you will understand how to play the game of wealth.

What is Tom K’s secret trading in his perennial trading stock?

Dear readers, the global stocks markets has some mild corrections in the week of 9 Nov 2015 to 13 Nov 2015 and Singapore stocks, especially the commodities stocks have been sold and some of these were oversold. One of these stocks is none other than Noble Group stock. Noble Group stock went south by 11% on 13 Nov 2015 and the current RSI is just above the Oversold region. Noble Group closed at $0.445 on 13 Nov 2015.

My principles behind the setting up of the Singapore Stocks Investing blog are clear: to share with readers, investors the way to profit from the Singapore stocks markets through what I have learned and experienced from the Singapore Stocks Markets. Throughout my blogging journey, sharing my investment and trading thoughts, I have received plenty of positive comments though I have received a few comments which are not as positive. These not so positive comments stem mainly from two views: one that do not agree with the techniques which I have shared and the other is that Singapore Stocks Investing is about attracting web traffic.

A Bigger picture of investing in Singapore stocks markets

It has been some time since I have entered some new positions in the Singapore stocks markets. In stocks investing, there is no competition with others unlike school or in career. We are basically managing our own monies, investing them with an aim to grow our monies so that our monies can work hard for us, at least beating the rates of inflation. If we find investing as something to do better than others, then we will have some emotional bias when investing; this will cloud our ability to think rationally when it comes to investing and we will not have good investing experience.

This neglected stock advanced 44% as Tom K predicted

Dear readers, on 10 Aug 2015, I have blogged about how a stock could be the next multi-bagger stock to come. The stock was trading at $0.059 a share back then. On 6 Nov 2015, the stock has traded at $0.085 a share, which represented an impressive 44% gain. What is this stock which I have shared with others? What is this stock which has been neglected by many? Well, this stock is none other than TT International stock and you can read my blog post on 10 Aug 2015 here .

These Singapore stocks may rally or head south next

Singapore stocks rally mostly with leads from overseas markets, corporate actions or themes. For the upcoming Singapore stocks which may rally next, we would need to look at a theme which has been picked upon before but which could exert its effect on certain Singapore stocks more next and that is none other than the Myanmar general elections.

JENNY BAKERY is famous for its bear biscuits, so it was definitely a must to buy some tins of Jenny Bakery Biscuits when my wife and I went for our Hong Kong Tour.

Getting to Jenny Bakery in Hong Kong is a breeze as we went to the Tsim Sha Tsui branch. We exited from D2 of Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station as advised by our map and went on to locate Mirador Mansion. We went checking out few buildings before realizing that Mirador Mansion is actually the nondescript building beside exit D2.

According to our internet research, one must go to Jenny Bakery early, before 630pm before the bakery closes for the day. We went there around 5pm (Singapore, Hong Kong time). Going inside the ground floor of Mirador Building, we were greeted by a colourful shop selling what in Mandarin is called "Small Bear Biscuits", but it is not Jenny Bakery from the name of the shop. Then we saw in the more interior of the building, a long queue in a shop and without doubt, it is Jenny Bakery!

Thank You for being a loyal shareholder

Singapore stocks markets are not making any advances or showing much declines for the week 2 Nov 2015 to 6 Nov 2015. It is not easy to trade against such “flattish” conditions. Rather, the focus for Singapore stocks for the above week was actually the proposed exit offer for two stocks: Biosensors International stock and Tiger Airways stock. The exit price for both stocks were really low and when the companies gave investors who are vested in these stocks at much higher prices, there is little investors can do about it. Let us remember that Biosensors International stock had trade before in the range of above $1.20 to around $1.60 versus the exit offer of $0.84. Tiger Airways stock whose IPO was at $1.50 has an exit offer of only $0.41.

Thursday, November 5, 2015

Biosensors International Stock exit offer

Biosensors International stock rallied 19.9% yesterday (4 Nov 2015) as Biosensors International struck an agreement for CITIC to buy the remaining of Biosensors International at 84 cents per share. This is an exit offer of 84 cents which is far below what many retail investors have expected. As wrote by some netizens, the exit offer is around the net asset value of Biosensors International stock and the exit offer should rightfully be much higher since Biosensors International has definitely much higher potential in its products.

JUMBO STOCK WILL BE A MULTI-BAGGER (from Tom K’s imagination)

JUMBO, the company behind Singapore’s famous Chili crabs dishes is currently having its IPO. JUMBO was supposed to roll out its IPO much earlier but has postponed its IPO till now. Jumbo is headed by Mr Ang Kiam Meng and the last impression I have on Jumbo and Mr Ang Kiam Meng were the scenes of defeat back then in year 2013 by Gordon Ramsay over Jumbo. That was a well telecast contest of Gordon Ramsay versus three popular hawker stall owners and of the three, Jumbo was defeated by Gordon Ramsay. That was a scene which shocked Singaporeans, I mean it is Singapore’s popular Chili crabs which lost to a Gordon Ramsay who picked up the dish only hours after learning in the hawker centre. Ever since then, Gordon has gone on to open a restaurant in Marina Bay Sands The Shoppes.

What stocks has Tom K invest in these days?

Dear readers, today, the STI headed south once again, against the backdrop of China’s and US’ economic news. I think I have been stressing this point repeatedly in Singapore Stocks Investing, that is Singapore’s stock markets is a price-taker and we are shaped by the economic events in US, China and Europe.

Are these stocks good as Gold?

Gold prices have been languishing at lows. Investors who are buying gold now or gold-related stocks do so mainly as they anticipate that gold prices will increase over time. There has often been an oft-cited correlationship between the US dollar and gold and hence if the US Federal Reserves is to increase its interest rate, that will provide a catalyst for the US dollar to strengthen and perhaps the measure will not boost the price of Gold.

One “DO-able” trading strategy to make you a SGD millionaire in eighteen years with just $800 per month

I believe when investors invest, sometime they feel thrilled when markets and their stocks head up in price and sometime they do not feel as happy when their stocks head south. Against this dynamic markets backdrop, it is easy not to stay focus on the longer term goal of investing, which to many is simply to become wealthier and even financially free!

A Good website to share with All readers

With internet and social media being the norm, more investors are turning online to search for financial and investment related materials to reference, learn from or simply to just read for their investing journey. This explains why financial blogs are increasing in quantity as well as in quality in Singapore’s internet arena. I have chanced upon a blog which is rather informative, combining the materials from financial analysts, financial bloggers, news feeds, markets and more. I may not be the earliest to learn of this website, but after learning of this website and seeing all the very useful features of this website, I believe I must really share with all readers about this website. I must tell you all that I have no vested interest in promoting this website even though the website has coincidentally a newsfeed from this blog (i.e. Singapore Stocks Investing).

I am still holding on to this fundamentally good dividends stock

While many penny, small-cap and middle-cap stocks have been hogging the trading limelight, there are bigger players and even more fundamentally better stocks slowly inching up, playing catch-up with their small-cap and middle-cap peers. One of these stocks is none other than Lian Beng stock and I have shared with readers how I have bought into this stock, re-entered this stock again and as of this time in writing, I am still holding on to this stock.

Asia Internet Congress 2015: did you attend?

Dear readers, did you attend the Asia Internet Congress 2015 held over 23 Oct 2015 to 25 Oct 2015? I have previously blogged about the event in a previous blog post and this blog post has attracted some comments and interest that the respondents will be attending.

Will these stocks be the next stocks to rally?

Will these stocks be the next stocks to rally? China has announced on 23 Oct 2015 that it will reduce interest rate again, this sent US stocks up. I believe the bullishness in US stocks will rub on Singapore stocks on 26 Oct 2015 and investors will be looking at commodity plays and China plays. Many will expect Noble Group stock to rally once more with commodities prices higher after the announcement in China’s interest rate. Also, Noble Group stock has cleared what many see as a resistance of $0.52 and hence many investors are thinking that Noble Group will rally next.

Up, Up our stocks portfolio

I believe everyone wants to accumulate wealth through investments and definitely for many, to achieve financial independence through investing since for many, there are not really many opportunities to become financially independent through a job income unless one has a high-paying job. Hence, for many of us investors, the only way to do so is for all our stocks and investment portfolio to go Up.

Tom K’s attempt at ONE stock

Today, Noble Group stock opened higher with a gap up, with an intra-day low at $0.525. Noble Group stock closed higher at 4.9% today at $0.54. While I have believed Noble Group stock will close higher today and have placed a “Buy” order for the stock, I did not manage to purchase the stock since my buying price was made at $0.52.

Tom K: what I think of the Singapore Stocks now?

Today, the Singapore Stocks STI closed 0.18% south. Looking at the top volume stocks today, I noted quite a lot of penny stocks. Noble Group stock is the only stock which seems not that “penny” a stock of all the top volume stocks today. These days, I am not looking much at buying new Singapore Stocks for trading as I am not confident looking at the Singapore Stocks markets now as well as the stocks which I am interested in. If I am confident, I will let you all readers know by mentioning the names of some of these stocks and how these may be good value buys. As always, there will also be some traders who can profit from a few pips up as their capital is a good amount.

Review of my Investment Portfolio

If you have been following Singapore Stocks Investing (SSI) long enough, you would have understood that Tom K’s (yup that is myself) focus for year 2015 will be on trading rather than to buy stocks and hold them for the long-term. This stems from my previous experience of buying some fundamental good stocks which dishes out regular dividends but which has since not been performing well and are now below the price which I have bought these stocks. These stocks span from areas like commodities and oil, just some instances of investment sectors which have since languished or are still languishing.

Penny stocks in play

Penny stocks seem to be in vogue in the trading sessions of 15 Oct 2015. This has benefited me as I liquidate my profits in penny stocks like Next Generation Satellite and LionGold. Both penny stocks are not profitable companies but when it comes to trading in penny stocks, it takes a certain form of skills. I have told readers in this blog post of 7 Oct 2015 that I was holding LionGold stock and to do well in Liongold stock, one must have the courage of a Lion. And so today, I am glad to tell you that LionGold stock has made profits for Tom K.

SMRT stock: you invest in this multi-stars stock?

SMRT stock went south by 1.4% to close today’s trading session at $1.365, after today’s blackout incident at few MRT stations today. Personally, I am not vested in SMRT stock though investors who invest in it may want to hold the stock as SMRT provides trains services which are basic goods for our people. Some people view SMRT as a multi-stars stock for the following reasons:

Noble Group stock staged another 9.6% rally today (12 Oct 2015) and I thought that everyone would describe Noble Group stock performance as Noble. Noble Group reached an intra-day high price of $0.535 before closing today’s closing session at $0.515.

Tom K: to do well in Noble Group stock, think Noble

Noble Group headed 16% north today (9 Oct 2015) as it was announced that Noble Group will overhaul its metals businesses. I have told readers that I am holding on to Noble Group stock bought at low prices on my post of 7 Oct 2015 after I shared with you that I have bought this stock at $0.395 on the post of 30 Sep 2015 . Thus, Noble Group has rallied 18.98% from my entry price based on its closing price today of $0.47.

Will this stock become a multi-bagger stock?

Singpost delivered a parcel via drone to Pulau Ubin successfully yesterday and this has sparked some interest among investors into Singpost stock. The interest of investors is not surprising considering how Singpost has reinvented itself over the years to move from being a traditional postal mail player into an integrated ecommerce and logistic player. The stake of Ali Baba into the company is a testament to the future plans of the company as it charts it way forward.

Singapore Stocks rallied once again today, what’s next?

Singapore stocks STI rallied once again today on 7 Oct 2015, closing today’s session at 2.22%. Such an extended rally is not because of the global stocks markets outlook; it is also due to the TPP agreement. In yesterday’s post, I told readers that I took profits from QT Vascular stock and today, the stock headed south by 1.3%. Investors are probably looking at commodity stocks though Golden Agriculture stock retreated today, probably due to the stock being overbought. Noble Group stock played catch-up with its commodities counterparts with a bullish 6.6% rally today. I would encourage investors to liquidate some of your portfolio where possible for profits, as it still takes confirmation to determine whether Singapore markets are bullish now.

Thank You, QT Vascular stock

Today, I took profits from QT Vascular stock, pocketing some cool profits, with a profit margin of more than 25%. Though this stock has what some has mentioned will head north, I believe it is enough for a profits. It is time to redeploy the capital liquidated into some other stocks with better fundamentals. I will look at the price chart of QT Vascular stock still and re-enter the stock at an opportune time. Join the emailing list to receive regular Financial and Singapore stocks newsletters too! Will these stocks rally further?

The US jobs reports have been interpreted by the stocks markets as factors delaying possible interest rate hike by the Federal Reserves. This has translated in stocks rallies across the region, including Singapore’s stocks markets. Amongst the gainers in Singapore stocks markets are Wilmar stock, which advanced a good 7.4% today as well as Golden Agriculture stock which advanced 4.5% today. Wilmar stock closed at a low of $2.52 on 29 Sep 2015 and for today’s closing price at $2.76, the stock has advanced a great 9.52%. Similarly, since reaching a low of $0.29 on 25 Aug 2015, Golden Agriculture stock has staged an even greater rally of more than 20% to close today’s trading session at $0.35.

Singapore Stocks Markets

The Edge magazine this week has an article on the Oct 2013 penny stocks saga; a saga which has erased billions of dollars from the Singapore stocks markets. To date, there is still no announcement of the investigation outcome into this saga. Singapore stocks markets is already a small, price-taker market and when we have saga like the above despite having a good reputation of a good forward-looking market, it is not good for retail investors. It is not easy, I believe for retail investors to invest in Singapore stocks markets as compared to decades ago as the global stocks markets are more volatile and of the current nature of our stocks markets.

A Multi-Bagger stock in the making

QT Vascular stock is one of the top gainer stocks today with a rally of a good 53.8%. The rally came about on the announcement that QT Vascular has successfully defended itself against a patent infringement lawsuit by another company. If you have followed my blog, you would have known that I am vested in this stock due to all the good profiling that I have read in the news. Patented technology aside, another development of the company that has influenced my decision is the setting up of QT Vascular’s drug-coating development centre in Singapore which means that this company has a long-term vested stake in its technology no matter how new or novel the technology can be. Do not get me wrong, I do not anyhow invest into stocks with a “sexy growth story”. It is only after research into QT Vascular that prompted me to buy into the stock. In Trading mode

In yesterday’s post (you can read the post here), I have blogged about how the intra-day price of Noble Group yesterday at $0.395 was attractive though $0.385 was the intra-day lowest price for Noble Group stock yesterday. Today, Noble Group stock price went up to $0.415. This is my perennial trading stock, Noble Group stock and I am happy once again that this stock has benefitted my portfolio.

What you need to know about this top volume stock?

Not surprisingly, Singapore stocks headed south yet again today (29 Sep 2015). The investment advice goes to the effect that it is when many are avoiding the stocks markets that the opportunities are made. So taking a leaf from this advice, is it time to buy into the stocks markets now? Well, it depends on how much you are yearning for this stock. To be frank, it is not easy for an investor to buy a stock at its bottom-most price; it is second best to buy at one of its lowest price though. Accumulate slowly into your desired stock is one good investment strategy. which sparked worries globally about the sector’s outlook.

Singapore Stocks Markets: my commentary

Today, Singapore’s stocks went south and the STI headed south by 1.44%. This week will be like what the media said, a “data heavy” week with finance-related announcements from China, US and Europe. This is definitely not a time to buy into new equities yet as the Singapore stocks markets will really be shaped by how the financial announcements pan out. However if you have been looking at a certain stock for some time, it is perhaps wise to accumulate slowly into the stock. It is definitely not easy to trade on the back of the current Singapore stocks markets and some market watchers are also wondering whether Singapore stocks, alike their regional and global counterparts are slowly trading down a downtrend.

Singapore Stocks Exchange (SGX) AGM

I read from the newspapers that shareholders “grilled” the management of SGX at SGX’s AGM over certain measures that the bourse has implemented and these included “minimum trading prices” and “minimum trading lot sizes”. As a recap, the minimum trading lot sizes has been reduced from 1000 shares to 100 shares while the minimum trading prices on the SGX mainboard is set at twenty cents per share, where in the past there was not such practice of a minimum trading price.

I am proud to see my blog Singapore Stocks Investing (SSI) appear on The Straits Times yesterday and today in the advertisement for SMART Investment & International Property Expo as one of the strategic partners for the event. I am proud enough to cut the advertisements and to keep them as the feature of SSI on Singapore’s leading newspapers is really a small achievement to me. I am proud enough to inform my parents and family about it. I am proud enough as this is really a testament of the value that SSI brings; in essence it is recognition of SSI.

Will these stocks be multi-bagger stocks tomorrow (25 Sep 2015)?

Today, Singapore’s haze situation became more focused as the PSI notched above the 310 range. I was walking in the street when the PSI was around 316 and I was choking as I breathed in the polluted air. Near me were a group of young folks, playing soccer in a basketball corner, oblivious to the haze and the possible effects that it would have on them. The PSI today would be the highest PSI to date for Singapore and I still remembered the PSI of Singapore reached 401 in June 2013, the highest PSI for Singapore to-date.

This Singapore stock has headed 20% since 18 Sep 2015, will the rally continue?

After my post of 19 Sep 2015 on Ying Li International stock, expressing my belief that Ying Li International stock should be able to head north and be a multi-bagger (you can read the post here. Ying Li rallied 9.1% on the next trading day (21 Sep 2015) and now Ying Li International stock trades at $0.172, a good 20% above the $0.143 stock price when I wrote the post. I congratulate readers who have invested in the stock and have reaped the profits already.

Behind the world’s Greatest stock

I started reading “Steve Jobs” by Walter Issacson, a thick paperback which I have bought at one of the book sales at Expo for a mere $3. It was a bargain as without the discount, the book would have cost around $20 plus. When I picked up the book, there were many copies of the books around and I was not sure whether it was due to not many people knowing how to appreciate the man behind the widely-lauded Apple products. Anyway, I am happy at picking up the book and partaking the aspiring story in the book. This was really one of the first autobiography which I read. This may demonstrate the fact that I have become older (and no doubt wiser?) as it seems that I pick up books of different genres at different stages of my life.

What should investors do to become better investors?

In my previous posts, I have shared with readers the importance of “cutting losses” in investments which have not gone up to their expectations. I hope that the recent performance of the Singapore stocks markets have convinced some of you that instead of seeing one’s capital “locked up” in investments which keep going below one’s costs, it would have been more beneficial for the investors to “cut their losses” earlier and channel the capital into other worthier investments unless one does not mind buying and holding one’s investment, especially in dividends-yielding stocks.

Sunday, September 20, 2015

Can this stock still be the next multi-bagger stock?

There are stocks which I trade and there are stocks which I buy and hold for their potential “multi-bagger” capabilities. If you have been following my blog, you would have known that I am an advocate for Global Yellow Pages stock, a stock which will become a multi-bagger stock in my opinion, provided one can hold the stock.

Saturday, September 19, 2015

Will this stock be another multi-bagger stock?

S-chip stocks are not that well-liked by investors here in Singapore unless there is a compelling reason to do so. YangZiJiang stock which will be included in the STI has been heading north (though it has also headed south in between trading) in its stock price because of the “STI inclusion” reason. So is there another S-chip stock which may follow suit?

Friday, September 18, 2015

Will this stock become the next multi-bagger stock next?

LionGold announced its financial results on 17 Sep 2015 and the result was an improved set of results compared to the previous reporting. As investors could recall, LionGold was one of the trio stocks, along with Blumont, Asiasons (now called Attilan) involved in the Oct 2013 penny stocks saga. That episode has erased billions of dollars from the Singapore stocks markets and investigation into the cause of the saga is still ongoing. Prior to restructuring the business into gold mining, LionGold was known as The Think Environmental and back then, I still remembered the company as a credible company in recycling.

Tom K will take note of this (not the Federal Rate decision) for investing on 18 Sep 2015, what is this?

Dear readers, as we know, the Federal Reserves should announce when the next interest rate hike will be by tomorrow morning. Or at least the Federal Reserves will shed some clues to when the interest rate will commence effect. As anticipated, this decision will shape how global stocks perform. I will suggest investors not to invest in stocks pending the Federal Reserves’ decision. And for tomorrow, there will be one factor apart from the Federal Reserves’ decision which investors should take note of? So what is this factor?

Wednesday, September 16, 2015

Singapore Stocks Markets commentary

There is nothing interesting in the Singapore stocks markets now as all investors are looking at when the Federal Reserves will increase the interest rate. As I have thought, Noble Group stock went south once again on a report which did not give good views of the stock. Other than that, I do not really see a convincing reason for investors to buy stocks now. I think investors should enter into the stocks markets when there is a clearer signal on when the Federal Reserves will increase its interest rate. The stocks markets have been talking about rate hikes for quite a long time and when the rate is to hike, people with high loans will have to take note of the hike.

Tuesday, September 15, 2015

Should you buy Hyflux and this stock now?

Hyflux stock advanced 7.1% today on news that a Hyflux-Mitsubishi consortium has won the bid to build a waste-to-energy installation. The consortium will also run the waste-to-energy installation when it is completed. While having a waste-to-energy installation in Hyflux portfolio may strengthen the environmental solutions of Hyflux, I must say that waste-to-energy installation may not always be good for the bottomline of Hyflux. Why is that so since with Singapore’s growing population, there is bound to be more refuse?

Are these the Fabulous Four Singapore Stocks?

It is not easy to invest or trade in the current stocks markets these days as the overall stocks market trend weighs on the expectation of a US Federal Reserves’ decision on interest rate hike. As many have believed, it is no longer a question of whether the Federal Reserves will increase the interest rate; it is a question of when they will do so.

Monday, September 14, 2015

It was especially hazy today as I returned home from an office meeting. I noticed how from the MRT train, the skies were so hazy and in my neighbourhood, this evening, the haze in the locality made near-by amenities hazy too. Against this backdrop, I checked the PSI and found that the PSI reading was still 150 though I would humbly think that the PSI should have been over 200 plus.

Sunday, September 13, 2015

Will you make use of this “little-known” effect to profit from Singapore Stocks next?

The Singapore Elections has concluded with a resounding win for the PAP. What will this good win for the ruling party means for Singapore stocks? Some investors think that the election victory will translate into good gains for Singapore stocks, especially those government-linked blue-chip stocks. I would think that these stocks may gain upward in price but buying sentiments will be capped by whether the US Federal Reserves will increase the interest rate in the coming week, since the Federal Reserves will meet and the anticipation among many is for the US Federal Reserves to increase the interest rate in the coming meeting. So against this backdrop, I will think investors will invest wisely.

Saturday, September 12, 2015

Should investors invest in these stocks now?

There are not many reasons to love penny stocks in the Singapore stocks markets for retail investors unless the retail investor has developed a knack for “very good speculation in these penny stocks. Penny stocks are not liquid, are speculative and comprise S-chip stocks (which some investors still shun even today) and a number of penny stocks are without good fundamentals (chief of all is the profitability aspect). These are the common grouses that investors have in deciding whether to buy a penny stock.

Wednesday, September 9, 2015

Should investors buy into these three stocks now?

As we all know, the SGX reviews the constituent stocks of the STI benchmark regularly, and in the latest review, three stocks were “removed” from the index and in their places were SATS, YangZiJiang and UOL stock. The addition of these new stocks will definitely be welcomed by investors who were already vested in these stocks as the inclusion into the STI seems to boost the standing of the stocks and there is a belief that the fund managers tracking STI have to buy into these three new stocks, which can only mean more upward movement for these stocks.

Singapore Stocks which may head north on 9 Sep 2015

Singtel Stock has been on the decline in its stock price. Today, a long-legged doji formed at the close of the trading session after three consecutive doji sessions. As technical chartists know, dojis are the state of the market which is not decisive but in today’s doji session, the buying was strong with a clear support at $3.58 to $3.65. Telecoms stocks like Singtel are always good for investors looking for defensive dividend plays in the current markets backdrop though if interest rate is to increase, telecom stocks will become less attractive. So following today’s doji, will Singtel head north tomorrow 9 Sep 2015?

Will this stock finally head north after bottoming out?

Mainboard-listed Global Yellow Pages stock is trading below twenty cents per share at $0.199 even though the company has performed a share consolidation exercise. Investors are probably not impressed at the company’s writedown of “impairment charges related to trademarks” and have sold off the stock.

What should Singapore stocks investors do next?

The Singapore Stocks Index (STI) ended 3.11% lower yesterday (4 Sep 2015) for the week. The bearish mood in the Singapore stocks markets is confirmed when the three US major stocks indices headed south by more than one percentage points each overnight (4 Sep 2015, midnight, Singapore time). The above will be the backdrop for Singapore investors as long as there is no clear signal from the Federal Reserves to increase its interest rate and if the Chinese economy is still not steady.

What you need to understand about this stock today?

I am not sure whether you are keenly following the Singapore Elections 2015, for me, yes, I am following very closely on what all parties are saying everyday. All Singaporeans will exercise their rights as citizens to vote for the betterment of Singapore, but again this will be a topic more for ourselves internally.

What should investors do now for Singapore stocks investing?

In my previous posts, I have shared with readers that the performance of Singapore stocks for the latter half of the previous week will translate into more selling and Singapore stocks once again headed south today. From my analysis of the Singapore stocks markets, bargain hunting into selected Singapore stocks must be done at the right time for the Singapore stocks markets are still following the lead of US, Europe and China stocks markets. I mean, if you want to get a feeling of how Singapore stocks will fare, just look at how the major three US stocks indices perform prior to Singapore’s trading day.

Replying to a reader on Singapore stocks

A reader has informed me and asked me for advice on whether she should still hold on to three penny stocks she has bought as their stock prices have went south by half. The three stocks are MDR, Rowsley and Ntegrator. I am not too sure of the nature of MDR though I know that Rowsley is a stock which gets it hype from Peter Lim as a substantial shareholder and Ntegrator has a hype in its Myanmar business with Myanmar being touted as one of the new markets in the region. My thinking is that if one can hold on to these penny stocks which are below the price they have bought them, one should still hold on to them though one should not be surprised if these penny stocks are to still decline in their stock prices further. Alternatively, one can sell part of these penny stocks to realize some liquidity to channel into better attractively-priced stocks and avoid further “southing” of these penny stocks.

What stocks can investors consider investing in now?

On 24 Aug 2015, Singapore stocks STI went south by more than 4%, this was followed by a strong upswing in STI for the rest of the previous weeks, in line with the global stocks markets. Last Friday (28 Aug 2015), the major US stocks indices were largely left unchanged, and hence I think that some investors here in Singapore stocks markets will unlock some of their profits following the US stocks performances. For investors, buying into stocks which have risen by quite a fair bit in the previous week, like energy and oil-related stocks may hence not be the best strategy. For buying confirmation into these stocks, one must be convinced that the oil prices are on a solid upwards track, similarly for buyers into commodity stocks.

Saturday, August 29, 2015

This stock has advanced 36.6% since 27 Aug 2015, will it still head north?

With the rally in oil prices, some oil-related and energy related stocks have performed well and for few, they have performed very well. Since 27 Aug 2015, one energy-related stock has advanced a spectacular 36.6% and with such a price rally, many investors would have thought this stock is a speculative penny stock. Well, this stock is not and in fact this stock has the backing of Temasek Holdings as a substantial shareholder. So what is this stock? Well, this stock is none other than Dyna-Mac stock.

SINGAPORE ELECTIONS 2015: bring back Yam Ah Mee as Returning Officer?

The upcoming Singapore Elections 2015 seems to have a festive mood as I experience it myself. I am not sure whether this has to do with the fact that the Elections is held after the National Day parade and with most of the SG50 celebrations already taken place. There is also a slew of good news from the Election Rally for some Singaporeans here. The festive mood is also enhanced by the fact that the National Day Parade TV screening zoomed in on a particular China girl; Kit Chan singing at the National Day Rally giving the rally a festive feel and finally another girl standing out from the crowd during Kit Chan’s performance at the Rally (I wonder whether she was imitating the China girl spotted at the National Day Parade TV screening) though it was reported that she stood out from the crowd on an “auto-pilot” basis.

Dear readers, I will like to inform you that with the announcement that Singapore’s Parliament has been dissolved and that Singapore’s Polling day will be 11 Sep 2015, Singapore Stocks Investing will be alternating investing and financial posts with my thinking of the political affairs of the days in the lead-up to in Singapore’s General Elections.

Today, it was reported that Shirwin Eu turn up at the Election Department Building to collect a set of nomination forms for himself. Shirwin Eu has indicated that he would like to contest in Bukit Panjang SMC and that his strength is in “policies”. Could Shirwin who was reported to be likely contesting as an independent a “surewin” in Bukit Panjang SMC? It might be an uphill task for Shirwin as he would be facing Mr Teo Ho Pin, who is the coordinating Chairman of town councils here in Singapore and who is known for clinching good election results for the PAP. But Shirwin might still have a chance at all. The reason? The Uber effect.

Just earlier tonight, I chanced upon a post about Chan See Ting on the internet (you can read the post here: ) . The post is about Ms Chan See Ting’s seeking people with the same hair condition as her to form a support group on her hair condition which is called “alopecia”. You can read about Ms Chan See Ting’s Facebook post here .

It was announced that Singapore Polling Day will be 11 Sep 2015, Nomination Day will be 1 Sep 2015 after Singapore Parliament was dissolved. Contrary to popular thinking, Polling day is 11 Sep 2015 (Friday) and not 12 Sep 2015 (Saturday). With 11 Sep 2015 Friday being chosen as the Polling day, I thought this is really good as Polling day is a public holidays and Singaporeans will have a long weekends once again.

What to do now for Singapore Stocks Investors?

Singapore stocks STI index went further south in today’s trade with the STI 4.30% lower. At this moment of writing, the US stock indices were still heading south, though they were slightly better as at one time earlier, the NASDAQ was down by more than 8%! While the Singapore stocks markets were busy selling the shares and many investors asked themselves what to do next, it is at this moment that I believe is the Best buying opportunity in Singapore stocks!

The BEST value-for-monies Singapore Breakfast

I have been eating out for my breakfast since Friday 21 Aug 2015 and today, I had the same breakfast which I had since 21 Aug 2015 which to me is really the Best value-for-monies Singapore Breakfast. I have had for these breakfasts two slices of toasted bread with creamy kaya and margarine as the yummy spread, two boiled eggs and last but not least, as you have expected, a cup of great coffee! This combination is really one of Singapore’s “trademark” breakfast sets and a set of this breakfast costs $4.80 at Yakun Toast which I had in the beginning of August 2015. But do you know that I have had all the breakfasts for myself from 21 Aug 2015 to today at a total price of a mere $4.20, which is still cheaper than the corresponding set from Yakun Toast?

Will SUN XUELING be an advocate for retail investors?

The US stock markets went south by over 3% (Dow Jones, Nasdaq and S&P 500). It has really been some time since I see US stocks markets headed south by such a magnitude on a trading day. The causes for the performance are China, expectations of interest rate hikes, oil and commodities and perhaps some of the Greek drama. It is like times like these that we note in the Singapore stocks markets now that Warren Buffet’s saying may be remembered by some investors: to be greedy at market opportunities like these.

Singapore Stocks Markets: First-world market?

I have been glued to the TV show “Singapore Tonight” for the past week. While it is interesting to watch the various political parties unveiling their candidates (mainly from the ruling party), it is even more exciting to look at the stocks markets action for Singapore and for the world. Though in this internet era, we can just turn to the internet news for stocks markets news, watching the TV news with all the graphics and sound is far more interesting.

Finally, one Singapore stock to head north?

As I looked at the performance of the Singapore stocks markets, I was reminded of my army days. Well, why was this so? In my army days, I constantly had to go “down” as I responded to the “down” orders shouted by my sergeant as I did that extra push-up as one of the many “punishments” meted out (together with the rest of my platoon as well). In the same way, the Singapore stocks markets have also been responding to the “down” sentiments as Singapore stocks markets again headed south.

My thoughts on the Singapore stocks markets

There is a confluence of factors shaping stocks sentiments: China’s stocks performance, oil and commodity prices, the Federal Reserves’ decision on interest rate increases and even the incident in Thailand. Together, these factors shape the broader market sentiments on the Singapore stocks markets so much so that many stock headed south today. If your portfolio is not doing well, do not fret for this is what investors should know before entering into the stocks markets.

As more and more candidates are revealed by the political parties for the upcoming Singapore General Elections, Singaporeans note that the candidates for the upcoming election hail from respective fields, from bankers, professionals to lawyers. Would there be one candidate among these candidates who could perhaps advocate for retail investors? Its seems that currently it is not apparent whether any candidate would take up this role, though if Louis Ng is to contest in the elections, we would have one advocate representing the animal welfare.

Singapore Stocks: my commentary

Singapore Stocks went south today, with the STI closing 1.51% lower. Noble Group stock still was the top traded stock today, closing south at 7.143%. I do not like Noble Group stock though many retail investors think of it as a good trading play. I have given my thought on Noble Group price in last Saturday’s post, for readers who would like to read it, you may read the post.

Saturday, August 15, 2015

Noble Group has retreated to a price level below fifty cents per share with its stock price closing at $0.49 yesterday. Up to today, I think it is pretty much hard to value Noble Group stock as this is really the centre of argument of all the reports against Noble Group. Hence, I believe retail investors who buy into Noble Group do it with thinking that the price they enter is low enough for them to sell at a profit later. But such a thinking is not really strategic as we have noted how Noble Group stock went down from seventy-cents odd to sixty-cents odd to now below fifty cents per share. So how do we value Noble Group current price?
