My FINAL day of work and an IMPORTANT message

Today is my last working day. For year 2016. I know to many of us, today is also the last trading day for the year. So what was it like for me to work on the final working day of year 2016?

Well, it is as usual. Just that I do not really feel well perhaps due to the fluctuating weather (between hot and cold). I know it sounds like a cliche that people normally review their job at the end of the year. For myself, I did that via an earlier post (please see the post here) and I would just want to update that I feel blessed to still have a job since unemployment figures here have edged up.

Yesterday, was the final trading day for Year 2016. We can now review our investment portfolio for the year. We can also now start to analyze the performance of Singapore stocks in year 2016. And where good stocks have become undervalued in year 2016, will there be a chance that these undervalued stocks would become winners in Year 2017? Will it be all the more attractive if these stocks pay a fixed decent dividends and are good stocks with good fundamentals to begin with?

How time flies, today is the last trading day for year 2016 and the STI Index, a benchmark indicator for Singapore stocks closed at 2,880.76. On the first day of the year (4 Jan 2016), the STI was 2,835.97 and hence for the whole year, the STI inched up by just 44.79 or 0.01%. The highest point of the STI was around 2,960 reached in April and December of year 2016 (around 4% increase) and the lowest point of the STI was around 2,530 (around 10% decline) in January and February of year 2016.

When it comes to valuing a stock, to determine whether an entry price is a reasonable one to pay for the stock, there are many common metrics used by investors. Price-to-Earnings ratio is one and Price-to-Book ratio is another as well as how low the price is against its historical price. Of the above metrics, one popular ratio used by investors is the Price-to-Book ratio since this ratio determines how much discount or premium a stock is trading against its book value and this ratio needs no comparison with similar metrics of other stocks.

The second stock with the highest potential upside is Cityneon stock. As a side note, if you have just joined us, please note that this post is a continuation of the previous post dated 28 Dec 2016. Cityneon stock traded at $0.895 on 23 Dec 2016 and the target price given by analysts for Year 2017 is 1.41. This means a further potential upside of 57.54%!

Dear readers, in my previous posts, I have listed down a total of 30 stocks picks from three analysts for year 2017. This number of recommendations might be a large number for retail investors to ponder on as they do not know what stocks from this list of 30 stocks to focus on: stocks with the largest upside to say the obvious. Hence in this post, I will list down the Nine stocks from the above list with a potential upside of more than 20%. How do I calculate this potential? Well, it is easy. The analysts have derived a target price for each of the recommended stock, so to calculate the potential upside, I would just use formula: (target price- stock price)/stock price x 100%. The stock price which I have used for my calculation was based on the stock price as of 23 Dec 2016. So based on the above formular here are the top Three stocks for Year 2017 from stock analysts with a potential upside of more than 50%.

Over the previous posts, I have been sharing with readers analysts’ stock picks for year 2017. Why do I did so? Well, I have done so because I thought it is an interesting kind of exercise from the analysts as they have to look at their “crystal balls” and make some forms of “forecasts” as to which stocks will be doing well for year 2017. This “forecast” of stock picks is all the more interesting since predicting which stocks will do well or so in a timeframe of a year is getting not easy since stocks markets are increasingly getting more and more dynamic. Hence, I have been sharing their stock picks with you readers since the analysts’ stock picks made are not easy and just come once in a year. Beside, I have strong belief that traditionally, investors at this time of the year would expect to read what the different financial analysts are picking! So am I!

This stock has headed south from its 52-weeks high of $1.10 to the current price of $0.91, an approximately 17% decline. Right now, this stock is oversold, according to the RSI chart with its RSI now at 13.5. This stock has a dividends history, suggesting an average dividends payout of around 4% which is rather decent. Also, on the technical chart, the price has crossed from above the 200-Days Moving Average which is a typical downtrend sign. So what is this stock?

Dear readers, previously we have shared twenty stocks recommended as stock picks for year 2017 by analysts. Do you still remember what these are? For OCBC’s recommendation, please read this post . For DBS’ recommendation, the post is here . There is one stock which appears on the radar of both OCBC’s and DBS’ recommendation, do you want to know what stock it is? Then be sure to check out the post here.

Dear readers, today is Christmas day and I, Tom K would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas holidays. Traditionally, this is the period where professional investors wrap down their investments for the year; fund managers closing their positions or doing some “window dressing”. Regardless of whether it is the institutional investors or retail investors, most of us would take this time to review our investment portfolios for year 2016.

Saturday, December 24, 2016

In my previous two posts, I have shared with readers ten stock picks from one financial institutions (you can read the post here ) and another ten stock picks from another financial institution (you can read the post here). Hence we have at least twenty stock picks from analysts for Year 2017, at least from the compilation of Singapore Stocks Investing.

Friday, December 23, 2016

In an earlier post , I have shared with readers the top 10 stock picks for year 2017 by analysts from DBS Research. I thought since I am already in the subject, I might as well go deeper into the subject, sharing with readers the recommendations of analysts from other financial institutions too.

OCBC research has similarly come up with the following top 10 stocks as their stock picks for Year 2017. Their stocks picks are below.

ONE Stock of FOCUS & SG Markets ANALYSIS

There has been a flurry of interest in one Singapore stock from the previous week. So much so that online, there are some professional traders as well as retail investors talking about it. This stock is none other than Hyflux stock. And if you could remember my post some days ago when I mentioned about Hyflux, I mentioned that the trading volume in this stock was peaking up and signs pointing to a rallying of this stock. But despite these, I shared that I am not interested in Hyflux as its debt ratio is not very good. However, I am not sure for those who have read certain investing websites about Hyflux stock, they might have entered into Hyflux only to learn of the news today of a new desalination plant contract awarded to a company under Keppel Infrastructure Trust. Hyflux retreated 2.8% today.

On the first trading day after IPO, this stock closed at $0.34. Today, the stock closed at $0.23, down by almost one-third of its high. The stock had an IPO price of $0.21, hence at today’s closing price, the stock was near to its IPO price though it was still around 10% higher than the IPO price. What is this stock?

Top financial analysts have picked their top 10 Singapore stocks for Year 2017 (source) . The top ten stocks are:

On 14 Dec 2016, the technical charts generated a BUY signal for one Singapore stock. The stock price of the stock closed 5.9% higher on the above date on a much higher trading volume: 10 million shares of the stock were traded, more than three times of the usual volumes. Thereafter, the stock pulled back by 1.9% for the two consecutive trading sessions and today, the stock rallied up close to another stunning 5% in stock price, breaking above the 200-days moving average. An analyst has announced a technical “Buy” on the stock last week and this coupled with the above trading conditions seem to suggest the uptrend of the stock would be sustained.

SHOULD Investors BUY these Six stocks NOW?

These are the six stocks which seem to tick most of the checklist boxes of a fundamental investor looking into good buys.

Checklist box 1: stock is undervalued as measured by a Price-to-Book ratio of less than 1

Checklist box 2: stock provides investor with a decent rate of return at over 5%

Checklist box 3: the stock is currently selling at low prices, one benchmark of a low price is that the stock is trading no more than 5% from its 52-week lows

The Federal Reserves has announced that it will increase interest rate and the rate of increase announced was higher than expected. Stocks markets responded to the interest rate decision by going lower. On one side, we have analysts giving banking counters a vote of confidence since they would be beneficiaries of interest rate hikes. On the other side; Reits, telecoms might be shunned since investors now have more better interest vehicles of wealth creation. For borrowers, mortgage loans would head north and they would need to examine the monthly cash flow phasing. And gold will not appear as attractive with the US Dollar climbing.

December is a year of reflections. And if readers could recall, I have shared glimpses of reflections of my investments for year 2016 earlier. You can read the post here if you have not read it. In this post, I would reflect of my job this year.

“Boomtime property buyers now big losers” was the headline in a local newspapers today. The article featured property transactions which were losers. For example, the biggest loser went to the seller of a condominium unit at Seascape. The condominium was bought for $11 million in year 2011 and was sold for $6.35 million in October 2016 at a loss of $4.65 million. This translated to a loss of around 42% in capital. Seascape is a waterfront condominium residential development on Sentosa Cove and during boomtime, $11 million might seem “reasonable” for the seller (then the buyer) to purchase the property but now against the current macro economical backdrop, the seller accepted the sale tag of $6.35 million.

This BLUE-CHIP stock has RETREATED 20%, should YOU INVEST NOW?

THAI BEVERAGES stock seemed to have a roller-coaster kind of performance year-to-date. The stock traded at the open of the trading year at $0.69 and rallied by more than 50% to reach $1.05 in August 2016 and thereafter, Thai Beverages stock retreated by around 19% to close at $0.85 yesterday.

There are basically two camps of investors: fundamental investors and technical investors. Fundamental investors typically invest based on fundamental reasons of the stocks while technical investors enjoy looking at technical charts and interpreting off them. There is no one better strategy as different investors use different strategies and more importantly, the strategies should yield profitable returns consistently.

KEPPEL CORP stock, SEMBCORP stock: which is a BETTER BUY?

The latest news for investors is that OPEC has persuaded non-OPEC members to cut oil productions. This news would likely bring the focus back to oil-related stocks. Would prices of oil-related stock rally next?

Saturday, December 10, 2016

WILL you Buy these TWO OVERSOLD stocks NOW?

When it comes to investing and trading, different investors have different trading methods. Some rely on complex trading algorithm; others depend on what the others are buying. For myself, I rely on a technique which I have been using and honing over the years. Some investors rather zoom in on one good stock, believing in the management and the fundamentals of the company, so that they will keep investing their dollars in the stock when the price heads north or south.

Friday, December 9, 2016

Against the current economy backdrop, we have seen many stocks have been taken private in year 2016 to-date. Most of the parent companies which have privatized their company counters made use of the low valuation of the stocks as an opportunity to delist their stocks in the current stocks markets environment. Some investors like to buy stocks which are good candidates for privatization due to the perceived capital appreciation should these stocks be privatized. And if the stocks were to pay dividends, investors could reap these dividends while waiting for capital appreciation.

The Singapore Stocks Market benchmark indicator STI closed 0.36% higher yesterday (7 Dec 2016) and if we are to look at just the performance of the STI per se, it shows that the Singapore stocks markets are still trading somehow range-bound. There is no clear catalyst to galvanize the Singapore stocks markets further. Instead, investors are looking at the macro-trends which might affect stocks markets globally. First, it was President-Elect Donald Trump’s factor, then investors are starting to look at the referendum on Italy. The US Federal Reserves’ decision on interest rate is definitely another factor to be looked at by investors.

When it is December every year, I would review how much I have earned through the year and most important of all, how much I have saved through the year and whether the savings have met the savings targets set at the beginning of the year.

Dear readers, Investing is a Journey towards Wealth Creation but most importantly, I believe it is a Journey that leads to learning more about ourselves and improving ourselves. If you think about it, Investing is about making decisions and how successful one is in investing hinges on making the right decisions at the right time. It depends on how competent one is in subject mastery (about the stock). And most importantly, it hinges on one Belief’s and confidence that through investing, one can be better off financially.

Are these THREE stocks the MOST DESIRABLE BILLION-CAPS stocks?

In this current stocks markets climate, some investors are staying on the sidelines, preferring to put their monies only when there is clarity in the Singapore stocks markets. And many are thinking a clarion call could be made when the US Federal Reserves decides to increase its interest rate. It is no surprise that many have factored in this likely move by the US Federal Reserves which has resulted in banking counters’ stock prices heading north and some REITS heading south.

Will you BUY this blue-chip stock with a 25% upside?

SGX stock traded at $7.31 on 2 Dec 2016 and an analyst has given a BUY recommendation on the stock with a target price of $9.10. This effectively suggests an upside of 24.48% to SGX stock, you can read more of the analyst’s recommendation here .

Frasers Logistic and Industrial Trust traded at $0.93 on 2 Dec 2016 and its target price is $1.10 according to an analyst, this gives the trust a potential of 18.3%. You can read more about the analyst’s recommendation here .

SINGTEL FIRBE BROADBAND services were disrupted almost the whole of yesterday 3 Dec 2016 for the whole of Singapore. At this time in writing, about 80% of the services have been restored. If I could recall, this seems to the internet broadnet disruption episode after Starhub internet services were down some time ago but the current Singtel broadband disruption seems to be much more in magnitude and duration than the Starhub’s disruption.

This stock has ROCKETED! Should investors BUY into the stock NOW?

On 1 Dec 2016, one Singapore stock has rocketed up while the investing community was going about their normal trading and investing activities. This Singapore stock has risen up together with its peers and if you have noticed how the Singapore stocks markets have traded, it is of no surprise to you that the Singapore stock which I am talking about is an oil-related stock. To recap, oil-related stocks have risen in price due to OPEC’s decision to cut oil production.

Saturday, December 3, 2016

Will YOU BUY these nine HIGHLY DISCOUNTED Blue-chip stocks NOW?

For the trading week till yesterday, oil and gas related stocks have started to move up in light of OPEC’s decision to cut oil supplies. This has provided a boost to stocks in the oil and gas sectors. I believe investors are awaiting the US Federal Reserves’ decision on interest rate hikes. The markets are or already factoring this into their investing decision since an interest rate increase looks likely or already set.

Friday, December 2, 2016

Would you Buy these stocks NOW?

Singapore stocks have been rather sluggish and the markets have not been giving investors leads to enter the stocks markets until the news of OPEC hashing out a deal to cut oil production. Oil prices rise after the deal and benefit oil-related stocks. The exuberance has rubbed on the Singapore stocks markets here with oil related stocks like Ezion, Ezra, Kris Energy, Name Cheong, Sembcorp Marine, Keppel making decent climbs yesterday (1 Dec 2016).

Is this the BEST TRUMP card for All Investors?

Ever since Donald Trump became the Elected President of the United States of America, many have tried to decode the Trump card, literally meaning the plans of Donald Trump and his team for the world as well as figuratively meaning how investors could position their investments for the best returns in a global economy with Donald Trump helming the largest economy in the world.

Though we have not come to December, but probably it is time to do a little review of my investment portfolio now and probably just “edit a little bit” of my portfolio where applicable when it comes to December. In December, the macro event for the stocks markets as the global financial community believes will be the interest rate hike decision by the US Federal Reserves and I am not sure how it might affect my portfolio. Alright, enough of my self-mumbling, let me share with you my investment portfolio for year 2016.

Stocks Markets “CRASH” is COMING?

These days, it has been reported that US stocks markets are at historical high, investors are bullish etc. When I read these kinds of headlines, I would know that it is probably time to sell since markets would be probably overvalued. On balance, there are also more and more people from the financial community giving their take on why a financial stocks markets crash is imminent for the global financial markets. If you have not been reading these on the internet, below are just some of the headlines which I have been reading from my internet surfing:

Are these Singapore REITS the VALUED Buys NOW?

Singapore Real Estate Investment Trusts or REITs have not really been in the spotlight these days since most of the REITs have already done well in a low interest climate. Going forward, should interest rates rise, the consensus is that the interest rate rise will not do good to REITs as investors would have more platforms of higher interests. Having said so, it is useful to find out which of Singapore REITs could be valued Buys. A summary of Singapore REITs having a Price-to-Book ration of below One are as follows:

Are these Eleven Blue-chip Singapore stocks the BEST Buys NOW?

Dear readers, though the markets have been feeling quite jubilant after the US Presidential Election, I think it is still too early to think that the markets would continue to be bullish. In this macro-economy climate, some investors would seek shelter in traditionally blue-chip Singapore stocks and the most popular blue-chip Singapore stocks are inevitably the STI constituent stocks.

Civil Servants’ Bonus: my research

The Public Services Division announced yesterday that the year-end bonus for civil servants would be 0.5 month. This bonus, together with the mid-year bonus of 0.45 month would bring the total bonus (over and above the 13th month salary) to 0.95 month for a civil servant. I am not a civil servant but every year I would look forward to the announcement of the civil service’s bonus as a guide to how much bonus I would be getting myself. This is reasonable since civil servants’ bonus are pegged to the performance of Singapore’s economy for which other employers reportedly might take reference to.

It has been reported today that Mr John Soh Chee Wen, the alleged mastermind behind the penny stocks saga of 2013 has been arrested. If readers can recall that penny stocks saga involving Blumont, Asiasons (now called Attilian) and LionGold, the trio stocks went down or in stocks parlance “crashed” in value by more than 90% over a few trading days. To give you a scale of magnitude and proportion:

Who wants to be a Millionaire?

In a global wealth report just released yesterday, Singapore’s wealth per adult now stands at US$277,000 in 2016 and this effectively means that Singapore is the seventh top economy in the world with the highest average wealth per adult. With USD $1 now equal to SGD $1.43, this means that an average Singaporean adult has around SGD $396,000 wealth. The same report also states the there are 150,000 millionaires in Singapore though on the other side of the scale, 18% of Singapore’s adult population has wealth below US $10,000, compared with 73% globally.

Are these the Top Billion-caps Singapore stocks NOW?

Singapore billion-caps stocks are Singapore stocks with a market capitalization of more than $1 billion. One way of ensuring that one gets a good bargain when investing in stocks is to buy the stock at a good value. The Price-to-Book ratio is often a criteria for choosing stocks with good value through choosing undervalued stocks defined as having a Price-to-Book ratio of below one. It is also good if the stocks have a fixed dividends yields which will reward investors for buying and holding the stocks.

Is this the BEST STI Blue-Chip stock NOW?

In my previous post of 11 Nov 2016, I have tracked six blue-chip STI stocks trading at a low from their 52-week lows. The list then was below:

All retail investors should do this FIRST

It’s that time of the year when many of us review the resolutions that we have set for the year and see whether we have achieved the goals we set in various aspects of our lives. I believe one such aspect of life where many of us have set our goals in are our financial goals: how much we aspire to save or earn in this year.

Are these stocks worth a Buy now?

Many expect the US Federal Reserves to increase the interest rate once again as US President-Elect Trump shows the world that he means business both literally and figuratively in his plans for America and the world. The US dollar has since risen to the rate of around $1.41 SIN to $1 US dollar. It has been quite some time since I have seen this rate (as US dollars to Singapore dollars have been hovering around the $1.30+ range for quite some years). With interest rate expected to go up, banking stocks should be the main beneficiaries. In Singapore, we have the three big local bank stocks in DBS, OCBC and UOB stock. Let us pull out some statistics of these bank stocks.

Singapore Stocks post US Presidential Elections: what should investors do now?

Dear readers, if you have been following my blog for quite some time, you should know that I am a very frank person. Hence I must tell you that currently, I do not really want to take a look too frequently at how the Singapore stocks markets are trading now. It is not useful to do so because there are no clear leads from President-Elect Trump’s policies (what President-Elect Trump and his team has for US and the world) nor are there leads to the US Federal Reserves’ decision on interest rate hikes. Given such a backdrop, investors should not enter into new investing positions now to get that small gain from stocks.

Which cheapest Singapore blue-chip stocks give investors the Best returns NOW?

Dear readers, as you would have read so very often now, after Trump’s Presidential win, there are only questions on the economies and stocks markets ahead since the world does not know what Trump’s plans for US and the world are. Stocks markets, I believe will hence to be very dynamic going ahead.

Saturday, November 12, 2016

Are these the cheapest Singapore blue-chip stocks NOW?

In the lead up to the US Elections, global stocks markets have become dynamic as the financial community wrestled with who would enter into the White House. After Donald Trump became elected as the US President, the stocks markets volatility would according to financial experts still persist as the world would not know what President Trump would bring to the world, in terms of his policies.

Friday, November 11, 2016

These blue-chip stocks are at 52-weeks lows, is it time to Buy now?

The highly anticipated US Elections has concluded and its back to normal business for the global stocks markets after a “knee-jerk” reaction to Donald Trump’s Presidential win. In such a stocks markets characterized by emotions, it is easy to speculate into certain stocks while neglecting the good fundamental stocks if there are any.

This penny stock is now in the top volume list, will speculation cause it to rally next?

Dear readers, I believe everyone in the world is looking forward to who will become the next President of America who is often dubbed the most powerful person in the world. The outcome of this will be known pretty soon and investors are just one group who will be glued to the outcome as pretty much, who becomes elected as the US President has a great bearing on the global stocks markets.

What should Singapore Investors do now?

The Singapore stocks markets are trading without much of a catalysts and if there are any, this catalysts arises from domestic earnings reports and corporate actions of local companies. There is nothing fantastic about the corporate results announced so far. The more grabbing headline comes from Super Group stock as the company is gearing up for a buyout by a Dutch company, this could only provide investors with reasons to speculate on the next buyout target among Singapore companies.

Is this stock rebounding next?

I last blogged about M1 stock in this blog post . M1 stock has since reached an intra-day low of $2.02 and on 1 Nov 2016, M1 stock rallied by a good 3.9% and yesterday, M1 stock closed at $2.10. This might lead to investors to wonder whether M1 stock is reversing from a bottom.

Why Investing is your Greatest asset?

You read the title correctly. It is not investing in an asset but investing as an asset. You might ask how can investing be an asset? An asset is defined as something that puts monies in one’s pockets, according to Robert Kiyosaki. Do I mean the above is that investors leave his investment portfolio to his families and friends and this is considered as an asset? But as we all know, not all investments are profitable. Many investors may be better off leaving their monies in banks than incurring financial losses from their soured investments. Nothing is further from the truth.

Super Group stock continued to halt its trading on the Singapore stocks markets. Super Group last traded at $0.97, up by 7.8% on 31 Oct 2016. There was speculation that Super Group might be taken private. I shared the same sentiment in my previous post here . In early October 2016, Super Group stock started to have more trading interest from what I have observed. Just looked at the 52-week trading low of Super Group stock at $0.68, we could see how Super Group has rallied around 50% to reach the trading price on 31 Oct 2016. The all-time high of Super Group stock is around $2.41.

Investing Strategy Revisited

Over the weekends, I have posted two posts about a humble investing strategy which would have netted an investor 15% returns year-to-date (you could read the two posts here: post 1  and post 2 ). The post has attracted some comments from readers, both good and not so good and I thought that my comments to readers’ comments via this post would make for another insightful post for readers.

Buying Singapore stocks now?

I have shared with readers in my previous posts that a Hillary Clinton’s win (when the informal polls was showing that she was winning Donald Trump by a good margin) should not be assumed. Indeed, the email scandal have shrunk the margin between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump at the informal polls. Further, the email scandals have more or less shaped the US markets’ performance in the previous week since that there is a likelihood that Donald Trump would win.

[Part 2] This humble investing strategy could have netted you 15% returns year-to-date

Warren Buffett has this saying about diversifying one’s investments: one does not know what one is buying business-wise. In fact, there is now a phrase called “diworsification” as a diversified portfolio might not reap the most optimal investment returns. Whether it is a focused or diversification strategy, I always believe that there is no right answer. The best investing strategy is one which the investor can make sense of, is comfortable with and which he can use consistently to generate profits.

In fact a profitable investing strategy is a simple one, simple enough for the investor to understand, stick to it, applies it and profits consistently from it. The investing strategy which I am going to share is one such humble strategy. In fact, this investing strategy is so humble that many say one should use it if one does not know how to invest. I know the above seems not good to an investor’s ego. But who cares about ego if one can profit from one’s investments?

[Part 1] This humble investing strategy could have netted you 15% returns year-to-date

Looking at the Singapore stocks markets, I think it is generally not easy to enter the stocks markets now since there are macro items which investors will want to focus for now: the US Presidential outcome, the US Federal Reserves interest rate hikes, the dynamics of oil prices. Amidst these macro items and the continued sluggish earning reports coming from listed companies, investors might ask whether there is an investing strategy which they can use to profit from the stocks markets while protecting one’s capital?

For, against the current stocks markets dynamics, it is not only difficult to profit from investments but it is even easier to lose one’s capital. What is the point of investing if one loses one capital? Not only does one not able to achieve a rate of returns which would beat the inflation rate, one would lose his capital. Thus, investors might then as well continue to put one’s monies in bank accounts where the inflation effect on your monies might still be less than the percentage of capital loss in the soured investment.

Secrets of Successful Investing REVEALED

I always think that time flies especially after stepping into the workforce. We are entering into November of the year. I believe a lot of us spend many of our best and working hours at work and it will be no surprise if many of us do not like or hate our jobs. It is a blessing for those who love their jobs, create value through their jobs to others at the same time and get handsomely paid for it all. Think successful entrepreneurs and professionals. For those of many who are in a job and stick to it though it does not pay much, there are only two things you can do where it comes to your financial expectations: lower your material expectations or look for alternatives.

Musing of the Singapore Stocks Markets

Some days ago, I read an article in the local newspapers which highlighted the situation facing some broking firms and remisiers today. According to the article, remisiers in Singapore these days may not be doing that well due to the thin trading volume on the Singapore bourse and hence this explains why the stock broking industry has seen a number of remisers left the industry. I could still recall that not too long ago, a group of stock brokers have banded together and submit a letter on how the Singapore stocks markets could be made more vibrant to DPM Tharman. All these just points to the situation of the Singapore stocks markets.

SING strategy for All Investors

As an employee, I can really identify with many of us holding full-time jobs that sometime we can be “burnt” out at work. I mean, lets face it, we spend so much of our time at work and for most of us, the work might not be the most interesting of all. But here we are, having to spend the bulk of our time at work, to earn monies to support ourselves and our families. But against the current economy backdrop, I would like to encourage those of us holding jobs that it is a blessing to stay employed and let us just work hard!

What All Investors should do now?

Dear readers, as you should have know by now, the Singapore stocks are trading without much of a clue, most of the attention these days are focused on the latest quarterly earnings of the Singapore companies, and from what we are reading so far from those companies which have released their earnings results, there are not much good profitable announcements, aren’t they? Instead, there have been announcements by many companies on how they intend to restructure costs amidst the less than stellar economies.

Will you Buy this 10.12% dividends yield Singapore Reit?

There is one Singapore Reit that is currently trading at an attractive 10.12% dividend yield and what makes it even more attractive is that it is currently undervalued at just 0.643 Price-to-Book ratio. Looking at the two fundamental figures, investors might be tempted to buy this stock. So what is this stock? Well, it is none other than Sabana Shari’ah Compliant Industrial REIT (Sabana Reit).

On 16 Sep 2016, I posted an article on the three telecom stocks. Let us revisit the stock prices of these telecom stocks vs the write-up of my article then.

First, Starhub stock closed at $3.46 in my September post and I mentioned that this stock was below the 200-days-moving-average which was a bearish sign. True enough, at the close of the trading day on 21 Oct 2016, Starhub stock price went further south to $3.39, down a further 2.1%., still below its 200-days-moving-average but not oversold yet.

Keppel Corp stock

In my previous post on SPH stock (you can access the post here), I mentioned how the earnings announcement of SPH would be a “prelude” to the nature of announcements from companies which will report their earnings next: slowing corporate net profits and announcements of how the company will contain costs. True enough, one of the companies which reported their earnings last night was Keppel Corp and Keppel Corp A3 net profit was down by 38.1% and while SPH intends to shave off 10% of its staff strength over time, Keppel has cut about 3,080 of its jobs and going forward, more reduction of its workforce is expected.

MM2 Asia stock: more than a 240% bagger!

Dear readers, with reference to my post  , I would like to inform readers that MM2 Asia stock price as of the first trading day of the year was actually $0.79. MM2 Asia stock price has also gone through two share splits. Looking at MM2 Asia stock price today of $0.465 and considering that the stock has gone through share splits, MM2 Asia is more than a two-bagger! I apologize for the error made as I have gotten the prices for my original post from a free trading software and hence there could be adjustments made to the prices by the software. This Singapore stock has rallied 240% year-to-date, will it still advance?

Looking at the Singapore stocks markets now (as well as global stocks markets in general), and looking at the title of this blog post, it might be tempting to think that the multi-bagging effect as stated in the blog post title is unachievable. But well, some stocks do rise slowly day by day, such that after a long period of gradual rise, one looks back and find that yes, this stock is actually a multi-bagger stock.

Why should investors take note of SPH stock?

Dear readers, it is earnings report season once again and SPH was one of the first few companies to announce its results. The result is not only not good and we are reading a number of news from SPH today, I mean not reading the news from SPH’s newspapers but the announcements made by SPH today is news.

Are these the six Best Singapore stocks currently?

Singapore stocks have been behaving similarly to the global stocks markets with no clear catalysts. The two macro-events which I believe are of interest to investors worldwide are the Federal Reserves’ decision on interest rate hikes as well as the answer to who will be the President of the United States. Amidst this environment, while it could be not as easy to profit from Singapore stocks unless one holds a long-term position to ride out the stock markets dynamics, it can some time be good to see whether there are fundamentally good stocks in the stocks markets currently.

Capitaland stock vs Ying Li international stock: which one would you invest in?

Ever since I posted about Ying Li international stock (you can read the blog post here), the stock has corrected from $0.182 to $0.173 by about 4.9%. I see the price as profit-taking first before a bullish engulfing session of 4.2% to $0.173 for Ying Li international stock. The RSI of Ying Li international is currently above 70% meaning that it is still overbought; however the five-day-moving-average of this stock still is heading north, still quite a convincing move.

Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton: what it means for the global stocks markets?

If there is one global event which investors are looking forward, for clues on where the global stocks markets will head, it has to be the US Presidential Election which has reached the final stages where Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are making their final pitches to woo more voters.

Good news for investors!

When readers look at the title of this post, readers must think that I am joking. For the Singapore stocks markets are, in line with the regional markets undergoing a southward movement. There is really a piece of good news and it resides in a letter which I receive from my telecom provider yesterday. My telecom provider is giving me additional GB for my mobile plan and I am really convinced that most of you readers will receive additional complimentary data packages too.

Tom K on Singapore stocks

Today, the Singapore’s benchmark STI stock index closed 1.49% lower to 2,813.71 in line with the showing of US stocks overnight. Looking at the technical charts, the STI is very close to the 200-Day Moving Average line of 2,800.

Will this stock continue to rally or will it be privatized soon?

Yesterday, we saw a good number of small-cap and middle-cap stocks making the most active volume Singapore stocks list. Noble Group continued its climb up on news that it will sell off one of its unit. Among the top 20 volume list was a S-chip stock which has been chalking up gains in the trading sessions. When it comes to S-chip stocks, many investors might shrug it off since there were some S-chip scandals in Singapore before and some investors have learnt their lessons investing in these stocks. But this S-chop stock which has been chalking up gains in its stock price is one which has relatively good fundamentals.

6) ISR Capital Limited

TWILIO stock: already more than a four-time bagger!

Twilio, a tech debutant on the NYSE stock exchange not too long ago had an IPO price of US$15 and opened on the first day of its trading on 23 Jun 2016 at $23.99. Twilio stock closed 60% higher at $28.79 on the first day of its trading. As of 7 Oct 2016, Twilio stock closed at USD $60.58, more than 400% of its IPO price. For those investors who are not too sure of what this stock is all about, well Twilio is a cloud communications company based in San Francisco, California. Twilio’s products are enablers for software developers to programmatically make and receive phone calls and send and receive text messages using its web service APIs. This is in short, a kind of “platform stock” which always get investors excited.

Could this have been a great investing opportunity for investors?

In the last week of Sep 2016, SMRT shareholders concurred via voting to SMRT’s privatisation offer. Already we could see some changes ahead. If you know what I am referring to, yes it is the plans of SMRT to consider whether to overhaul or revamp the Bukit Panjang LRT system which has experienced a bout of train or rail faults recently. Personally, I am in favour of retaining the LRT as the system given proper upkeep should be a faster transport option for commuters.

Could this the next Best World stock?

Noble Group stock rose another 7.3% yesterday to close the trading day at $0.191. Since reaching a low of $0.112 on 2 Sep 2016, the rally in Noble Group stock translated to an impressive 70.5%. And there seems to be no stopping Noble Group since from the technical charts, I noted that even with yesterday high price on an equally impressive volume, Noble Group stock price is still below its 200-days moving average.

Wednesday, October 5, 2016

Today, Super Group rallied by an impressive 12.5% to reach a high of $0.90, a price level which was not seen since April 2016. And the rally was on an impressive 13.9 million volume, which was exactly ten times the trading volume of Super Group yesterday. This usual trading volume prompted an enquiry by the SGX and Super Group replied to the effect that it did not know what might have caused the rally in its stock price today. From the technical trading charts, the price movement of Super Group today has transcended up beyond the 200-days moving average and if the rally thereafter is sustainable, a new uptrend may ensue for this stock.

The three “C”s of Investing All Investors must know

DPM Tharman spoke yesterday on the sideline of a ribbon-cutting ceremony of Wong Fong's expanded office that Singapore had soft growth in the first half of the year and going forward he thought that the second half of the year will be weaker and hence Singapore's growth will probably end up somewhere in the lower end of the 1-2 per cent range.

Are you a 100% fundamental investor?

Some investors I know deem themselves as fundamental investors who invest based on doing research into the fundamentals of a company and buy a stock only if they are convinced that they find great value. Many of these fundamental investors also call themselves value investors and some seem to be very proud of the fact that their investment strategies are modelled after the greatest investor of all time: Warren Buffett.

Would you buy these attractive Singapore stocks now?

I believe in these current times, Singapore investors are looking more at the fundamentals of the stocks that they are considering to invest in, given that over time good fundamental stocks will still be able to realize their valuation or potential. What makes a stock good? Is it the dividend factor? Is it that the stock has little debt or is it that the stock is undervalued?

One advice for Singapore stocks invesors

The US Federal Reserves Open Market Committee has just concluded its meeting and as expected, there is no interest rate hike announced at the meeting. However, Jane Yellen said that there could be a interest rate hike this year. The Federal Reserves will next meet in November (before the US Presidential Election) and in December this year.

Singapore Stocks: Taking Stocks

I am not looking into buying Singapore stocks for the time being. The whole Singapore stocks markets is trading without much of a clues and directions. Traders who want to make a quick buck from some stocks may be lucky but in general the markets now are not for those who are not skilled traders specialized in intra-day contra- trades. It is a better time to have a new position in stocks when the stocks are trading low when value really emerges.

What Investors should understand about Singapore Stocks?

The Singapore Straits Time Index (STI) made a modest climb last Friday (16 Sep 2016), closing 0.78% higher at 2,827.45. Singapore stocks have been consolidating, neither in a bullish mode or a bearish mode though the hints of Federal Reserves delaying its interest rate hikes seems to be welcome by the stocks markets. However, as it is now, investors must take note of the US Federal Reserves Open Market Committee as an interest rate hike decision announced at the meeting will shape the stocks markets.

Friday, September 16, 2016

Starhub stock has headed south below its 200 days-moving-average; this could signal a sustainable down-trend. However, yesterday, there was quite a bullish stock candlestock even though the stock remains oversold and the price is still below the 200-days-moving-average. A delay in the US interest rate hike could lend support to the stock though it is quite clear that Singapore could have a fourth mobile player in the telecom space. I think support of Starhub stock is at around $3.16, looking at the stock charts.

The Reality that Singapore investors must understand

Shareholders of SMRT will go to the vote for the proposed privatisation of SMRT and the delisting of the stock from the SGX. From what was reported in the newspapers, there are some investors who are not happy with the $1.68 offer as they think that the valuation of SMRT should be higher. Of course, if I were a shareholder of SMRT, I might also feel the same way since I have always remembered SMRT stock at $2.04 which was actually the price of SMRT when I first saw its stock price.

A Good news for Singapore investors

Singapore’s stocks markets are closed today for Hari Raya Haji holidays. Singapore stocks markets will open tomorrow and when the markets open, I expect Singapore stocks to take cues from the performance of US stocks last week which took quite a beating since the news of “Brexit”. The reasons which I need no introduction here are that news of US Federal Reserves scaling up the interest rate soon have resurfaced again.

Will you invest in this ASX stock?

Sometime ago , I shared with readers another way to invest your monies beside the usual stocks, properties and forex. And that is via the latest investment platform of crowd-funding. What is crowd-funding? Well as the phrase implies, it means turning to the crowds for funding. This is definitely one novel way beside the banks where companies can turn to for securing of capital. There is a slew of such platforms like Moolahsense, Coassets and they reward investors who buy them with good annual interest rates like 8% on average.

Two Singapore’s listed companies appeared in Forbes Asia magazine Best under the Billion (in terms of market cap) companies. The two companies are MM2 Asia and Riverstone Holdings. Is it time to Buy Singapore’s stocks?

Some Singapore stocks have staged a rebound and they include embattled oil and energy plays as well as some bank and commodity counters. Looking at the performance of these stocks such as Noble Group stock which rallied by around 12% on two consecutive days, it could be tempting for retail investors to jump into the fray, chase and buy these stocks. When doing so, retail investors want to “ride with the trends”, “ride with the markets”. But looking at the stock charts of some of these stocks, it is not easy to discern a clear uptrend. More importantly, looking at the STI technical charts, the general market trend is not clearly bullish yet. I would like to advise investors especially retail investors to error on the side of caution.

Will you Sell these three Singapore stocks now?

Ever since it was reported of the possibility of potential new entrants bidding to become Singapore’s fourth mobile operator, the three “Big Brother” telecom stocks have come under the scrutiny of investors. In fact, the news of the fourth mobile operator was reported on 2 Sep 2016 before the Singapore stocks markets opened and the three local telecom stocks responded accordingly on that trading day. The below were the performance of the three stocks on 2 Sep 2016:

The trappings of the stock markets

I read with amazement an article in a local financial magazine which details the modus operandi of a rogue trader based in a trading firm here (the law had since caught up with him). His modus operandi was a very complex one which involve mass buying, creating many buy and sell orders and hatching a plan to determine the buy and sell prices, all to just lure the buyers and sell his shares for good profits.

Sharing of an investment folly

I have received a deck of documents in mailbox. The documents come from a company whose shares I am owning. The documents are information for issuances of rights and warrants.

Not again, I asked myself for this is not the first time that the company is seeking monies from investors again. This stock is one of the worst stocks in my portfolio. I have bought the stock when I was a younger and inexperienced investor.

Why this stock is heading south?

Since its IPO, Jumbo Group stock has been on an ascent. The attractive F&B scene, the support of investors like Temasek Holdings and Ron Sim, founder of Osim further lends a vote of confidence to investors vested in this stock. Jumbo has also plans to expand in China. But as we know for all stocks, the ascent of stocks could not be unabated. And the time has come for Jumbo Group stock to correct south.

The “Sam Goi” effect on Singapore stocks once again?

Super Group stock closed at $0.75 on 18 Aug 2016 and yesterday the stock closed at $0.81 on a high volume, an 8% increase in the share price of Super Group. While this gradual increase might not be impressive, what is noteworthy is that Mr Sam Goi, the “Popiah King” via his company, Yee Yih Jia Food manufacturing has been buying the shares of Super Group stock. Super Group itself has been doing a daily share buyback as well. Mr Goi is a substantial shareholder in Super Group with a 10.28% stake.

My advice for investors

Analysts have always thought that August is a month where stocks markets can get rather dynamic. I feel that Singapore stocks markets are starting to bear this out (literally though some thought of the bear of the bear markets). This comes about after Janet Yellen’s unclear message of interest rate hike decision. Then, we have had more and more countries imposing travel advisories on our country. Oil stocks continue to go lower, Telcos, Reits and dividend stocks might be shunned by investors looking at higher-returns means with interest rate expected to increase.

These ten billons-dollars caps stock are trading at 52-week lows, should you buy them now?

Some investors shrug off penny stocks as they deem that these stocks are riskier. On the converse, there are investors who prefer to invest in billion-dollar stocks deeming these as stocks belonging to companies which have an established presence. While the latter statement is somehow true, but over the years, we have seen how billion-dollar cap companies can also be “victims” of global stocks markets rout or slump in commodity, energy or shipping industries.

Tuesday, August 30, 2016

Are these the five most DESIRED billion-caps Singapore stocks?

What makes a good stock? There are many possible answers but the answers will be related to the fundamentals of the company. Fundamentals are many which range from price-to-book ratio, price-to-earnings ratio but the most important fundamental in my opinion is the debt-to-equity ratio.

Monday, August 29, 2016

Is it time to sell off these stocks?

Investors’ favorite stocks have all along been defensive stocks which pay steady dividends. These are also stocks which provide everyday services. So what are these favorite stocks? Well, it has to be the three telco stocks: Singtel, StarHub and M1 stock. Looking at the stock chart of these three stocks, we can note that these three stocks have been recording highs such that a top has been formed for them.

Sunday, August 28, 2016

Should Investors start to sell these stocks now?

When news first broke in the world of the Zika virus, I read of what happened in Brazil and was afraid that Zika could come to our shores. And after a long time, news broke out last week that Zika virus found its way to Hong Kong, and I thought with Zika in such a close proximity, Singapore would likely to have similar cases (the Zika case in Hong Kong later proved to be negative).

What investors need to know about the stocks markets next?

Singapore stocks, in my opinion have been trading without much of a lead, as investors would like to know and understand what the macro trends shaping the stocks markets will be. And now, we have some sort of an inkling.

First, the much anticipated decision of the US interest rate hike. It is getting much clearer after Janet Yellen’s speech that the interest rate hike is still on the table and many analysts and stocks markets watcher believe the US will increase the interest rate at most twice by the year end. Should the interest rate rises incrementally, the effect on stocks markets will be felt incrementally; but overall, the effect on stocks will be felt. I should not elaborate here on this blog as to what these effects are since in the internet, there are so many literatures on this front.

Saturday, August 27, 2016

Will you Buy these five billion-caps Singapore stocks now at 50% discount?

There are undervalued stocks; defined as those having their price-to-book ratio below one and there are highly undervalued stocks; defined as having a lower price-to-book ratio. For the latter, I would like to ascribe a price-to-book ratio of 0.5 so that theoretically, should an investor buy these stocks; they are paying just a half of the book value. In a way, this idea is attractive since it is just like a 50% discount off these highly undervalued stocks.

Friday, August 26, 2016

Is it the time to Buy this stock?

If you want to be a good investor, it is good to be curious, analytical about your environment, look at market trends and ask questions for stocks is nonetheless businesses and businesses serve everyday’s needs. This morning, I woke up and immediately I have a possible stock idea. What is it? Well, I smelled the smell of HAZE and instantly, the name of Medtecs International stock came to my mind.

Thursday, August 25, 2016

Is it time to invest into these stocks now?

So, we had Brexit; we had stocks markets reacting to Brexit and the effect, as what many had thought was not as worst as what it could have been. And now many in the stocks markets thought that after this “knee-jerk” reaction, markets have rebounced since the whole process of Brexit as well as possible similar “exits” from other European countries would also have a long “gestation” period.

Wednesday, August 24, 2016

What investors need to know?

I have been saying that Singapore stocks markets is a price-taker whereas the larger overseas markets especially the US markets are the price-makers, shaping the Singapore stocks markets. For clues on how the local markets will perform for a given day, just take a look at the performance of the overseas US markets. Local investors are always looking for clues of how the local stocks markets will perform next, hence it is useful to note how US markets have been doing.

How to be Rich without being a millionaire?

I had a look at the top 50 richest Singaporeans who have made it to the Forbes 2016 list. These are the richest of the rich in Singapore with more than few hundreds millions of US dollars on net worth. Once again, top of the list are names of property and banking magnates. What struck me (but it is a trend anyway) are those who are in the list because of their new media businesses and these rich are comparatively young. Mr Tan Min-Liang of Razor Inc made it to the list with a net worth of some US $600 million dollars. It is cool, isn’t it? The co-founder of Facebook who has since relocated here is also an entrant.

Two Singapore stocks in focus

I touched on two Singapore stocks in the previous week and asked readers whether these two stocks are poised for a “breakout”. After my posts, the two stocks did rally impressively and I raised a question to investors to the effect whether these two stocks’ rally is sustainable. Let u relook at the two stocks now.

PM Lee will deliver his National Day 2016 Rally speech tonight. Personally, I thought PM Lee’s speech will come so timely, at a time when Singaporeans on this little tiny island are galvanized over Joseph Schooling’s Olympic Gold medal win. The Rally will mean so much to different people, be it more goodies to offset the high cost of living for families here, or be it more social assistance to help those who need help.

AGV Group has launched an IPO for a listing on Singapore’s Catalist board. The IPO is via placement hence, I believe the IPO is not open to retail investors. The placement tranche is around 26.9 million shares at $0.22 each. AGV IPO stock is expected to trade on SGX on 26 Aug 2016.

THE HUSH Singapore Investing

I seldom watch TV shows, left alone local tv productions and hence I am glad that I have managed to catch most of the just concluded “The Hush” on Channel 5. Please don’t get me wrong. I watched the show not to see the former FHM Malaysian queen Sarah Lian, or former Malaysian beauty queen or up and coming local starlet Foo Fan Rong. I mean I am an old man already. I watched because of the intriguing plot right down to the last episode.

Can this stock be a multi-bagger stock now?

Hyflux is a well-known water company in Singapore and investors into this stock might think that Hyflux stock can be poised to ride on the growing importance of water in the future. However, after a good ascent, Hyflux stock is now not as interesting as before until recently when an article on The Edge Singapore carried an article on Hyflux which outlines Hyflux’s alternate business plans which are to sell oxygenated water and open up some forms of water-centric health spas. This is really interesting to me as Hyflux will be entering into the high-end health sector, like Osim which majors in massage chairs and teas.

Would you buy these attractive Singapore stocks now?

I believe in these current times, Singapore investors are looking more at the fundamental of the stocks that they are considering to invest in, given that over time good fundamental stocks will still be able to realize their valuation or potential. What makes a stock good? Is it the dividend factor? Is it that the stock has little debt or is it that the stock is undervalued?

Is it time to invest into these stocks now?

So, we had Brexit; we had stocks markets reacting to Brexit and the effect, as what many had thought was not as worst as what it could have been. And now many in the stocks markets thought that after this “knee-jerk” reaction, markets have rebounced since the whole process of Brexit as well as possible similar “exits” from other European countries would also have a long “gestation” period.

This IPO stock has gone down by 17.64%, is it time to Buy now?

A recent IPO debutant Katrina which debuted on SGX via placement at a placement price of $0.21 closed at a price of $0.34 on its first day of debut (even reaching a high of $0.405 intra-day). However, thereafter, Katrina stock price has headed south to a support of $0.30. Yesterday (15 Aug 2016), this support of Katrina was broken down as Katrina stock headed south by a further 6.7% to close the trading day at $0.28. What has happened to Katrina stock?

Is this stock ready to rally?

In my blog post of 14 Aug 2016 , I asked readers whether it is a good time to invest in iFast Corporation stock. The reasons are that iFast Corp stock has gone down to near its IPO price and there was lots of buying volume in this stock (due mainly to buying from substantial shareholders). I shared with readers that these two factors are already good buying reasons for some investors.

Today, iFast Corp stock rallied by 3.1% to reach a price of $0.995 while intra-day, the high of iFast stock went as high as $1.02. To me, this is a good point to note as the resistance of iFast Corp stock has been $1 for quite sometime.

Will you Buy these five billion-caps Singapore stocks now at 50% discount?

There are undervalued stocks; defined as those having their price-to-book ratio below one and there are highly undervalued stocks; defined as having a lower price-to-book ratio. For the latter, I would like to ascribe a maximum price-to-book ratio of 0.5 so that theoretically, should an investor buy these stocks; they are paying just a half of the book value. In a way, this idea is attractive since it is just like a 50% discount off these highly undervalued stocks.

This stock has gone back to near its IPO price, is it time to invest in it?

In December 2014, iFast Corporation listed on SGX with an offer price of $0.95. I remember that there was some interest among the investing community in this stock then considering how there was an interest in financial technology (Fintech) then which continues till today, if not, even more. Then there was also the interest in, a platform under iFast. Investors also noted that SPH is the largest substantial shareholder in iFast with a stake of over 30%.

Ever since Pokemon Go grips Singapore, there are many people all around the island searching high and low for the Pokemons. And am I one of these “hunters”?

Will these stocks rally next?

Singapore stocks were trading in a lacklustre manner until the proposed privatization of SMRT stock and then Sim Lian stock which adds to the element of speculation (of which are the next stocks to be privatized) in the Singapore markets among the investing community. In the post of 10 Aug 2016, I have listed three such potential stocks: Ying Li international, Wheelock Properties and Ho Bee Land. As what I have expected, there are much interest in unraveling which are the next potential stocks to be privatized and an article which I have read sums it all well by listing not just a few of these potential stock but a galore of eighteen of them and here they are:

Another merger & acquisition, which stock is next?

Following the proposed delisting of SMRT stock, another stock will be taken private next. This time round, it is Sim Lian stock whose founder decided to delist the company with an offer of $1.08. Today, Sim Lian stock rallied up by around 13.3% to close the trading day at $1.065.

“Time capsule” stocks

It is not easy for an average investor to profit from the Singapore stocks markets, especially in the current stocks markets when there are no leads. It is also hard for investors to “cut loss” so investors will end up with having what I term as “time capsule” stocks where they put aside their losing trades for a long time, hoping to unveil their stocks like a time capsule in the future to see their positions have become profitable.

Sharing of my investment lessons

I have been investing in stocks for quite a long time already. And in the process, I think I have experienced what many retail investors have experienced which include paying tuition fees to the stocks markets know what I mean. Actually, in my opinion paying tuition fees to the markets is okay as long as the tuition fees are not large. I believe many would have experienced sitting on an unrealized loss, refusing to cut one’s stock portfolio loss, only to experience the stock going south more and more till by the time you decide to cut your portfolio loss, you get back minimum from your investments.

Will this stock be the next multi-bagger?

Every time I come back from my exercises, there is only one thing which I would like to do and that is to have a can of 100Plus. 100Plus hydrates and refreshes me in a way that water could not. Beyond just being a sports drink, one can enjoy 100Plus at anytime of the day.

These ten billons-dollars caps stock are trading at 52-week lows, should you buy them now?

Some investors shrug off penny stocks as they deem that these stocks are riskier. On the other hand, there are investors who prefer to invest in billion-dollar stocks as they deem that these are stocks belonging to companies which have an established presence. While the latter statement is somehow true, but over the years, we have seen how billion-dollar cap companies can also be “victims” of global stocks markets rout or slump in commodity, energy or shipping industries.

Nevertheless, it is still tempting to consider billion-dollars caps stock which are now trading at low prices. Here are ten of the SGX-listed stocks which are trading within 5% of their 52-week trading lows.

Will you Buy these billion-caps Singapore stocks now at minimum 40% discount?

There are undervalued stocks; defined as those having their price-to-book ratio below one and there are highly undervalued stocks; defined as having a lower price-to-book ratio. For the latter, I would like to ascribe a maximum price-to-book ratio of 0.40 so that theoretically, should investors buy these stocks; they are paying for these stocks for less than half of their book value. The minimum price-to-book ratio for the above will be zero so that we can exclude negative earnings or equity.
