#10YEARCHALLENGE ON STRAITS TIMES INDEX ("STI")

Dear readers, the #10YearChallenge on the Straits Times Index will look like the snapshot above.
Ten years ago, the global equities including Singapore equities were under the global financial crisis. The STI as at 18 Jan 2009 went to a low of 1,685.23. Ten years later, as at 18 Jan 2019, the STI was 3,224.34, which was almost double that of the 18 Jan 2009 level.

We have not had a global financial crisis since year 2009. The global financial markets have been good, modest at times. Many have said that it is a matter of time before there would be another financial crisis with some saying that the next financial crisis will be of a greater magnitude since monies pumping will no longer be a real solution. And with global equities rallying for close to 10-years now, many have also said it may be time soon for the next global financial crisis.
