Dear readers, the widely-touted Amazon of Africa, Jumbia Technologies will debut trading on the US NYSE bourse today. Jumbia Technologies has priced its stock in the range of USD $13 to USD $16 per share. And I believe there will be some hype to this stock on the IPO day itself since some investors will look to Jumbia Technologies stock as the Amazon stock of Africa against the backdrop of a still largely untapped market in the African continent. As with some starts-up of this size and scale, Jumbia is yet unprofitable. Dear readers, just some time ago, Global Yellow Page announced that it will be placing out rights shares priced at 20 cents per share in order to raise some funds for its business expansion. What surprised me was that the right shares at 20cents each was at a premium over the then trading price of Global Yellow Pages stock. Since the announcement of the rights issue, Global Yellow Pages stock price has increased. Based on yesterday’s closing, Global Yellow Pages stock are at 19 cents per share, still below the price of the rights.
