ALOYSIUS PANG: MAY YOU REST IN PEACE!

These few days, like many others, I have been saddened by the loss of Aloysius Pang. As such, today, there is no usual investing or financial articles on Singapore Stocks Investing blog today as I seek your appreciation to allow me to write this post on my feeling toward the unfortunate departure of Aloysius, so that I could feel slightly better. Thank You.


To start off, I have watched Aloysius Pang when he acted in TV dramas while he was a young child and like many Singaporeans, we have seen him grow up to be a fine man that he was, a well-accomplished and multi-talented artiste and also a confident entrepreneur. Though after my starting of work, I have watched lesser of the local dramas, I still at least known and have seen him star in recent TV dramas and shows. Thus there has been at least some sort of following up, through the media, of Aloysius.

Hence, watching Aloysius Pang from his young days which was also all of our younger days to now, it seems that I have, like many Singaporeans, know him personally, though the fact is that I have not met him personally before. As such, there seems to be a connection with many of us like myself with Aloysius Pang as many of us grow up with the local television dramas, with Aloysius Pang.

And sad to say, Aloysius Pang left Singaporeans while serving the nation we call home. I was rather quite emotional knowing he left while on reservist as I am a NS Man Reservist, liable for Reservist trainings call-ups anytime. I know that as a NS Man Reservist, when the call to come to serve our country for a few weeks in a year comes, we would do so notwithstanding our many commitments at work and in the family. I know that as NS Man, we would go back to Reservist Training so as to continue our noble mission of protecting Singapore. And we know that with each every Reservist call-up, we would not be as young, active and energetic as before, but we NS Man still do our Best to protect Singapore, the place we call home in the roles we are given. It is very regrettable that Aloysius Pang who has a good future ahead of him departed doing his duty to serve Singapore.

No words from anyone now would be able to change the reality that Aloysius had departed. If there is one useful lesson that is to be learnt with each passing of a precious life, it is that all of us should cherish and make the Best of our own lives for nobody could know what would happen tomorrow. If I could share, I live by the maxim of "To Learn, To Love, To Live and To leave a Legacy".

Let us await the Committee of Inquiry to shed some details of the circumstances leading to Aloysius' departure.
