SINGAPORE SAVINGS BONDS: AVERAGE ANNUAL YIELDS HAS DROPPED

Dear readers, currently the application of Singapore Savings Bonds “SSB” (Sep 2018) is Open. The annualized 10-year yield of the Sep 2018 SSB is 2.44% which is a decent yield if compared to the interest rates which banks are paying now.

I became interested in the Singapore Savings Bonds only from the July 2018 SSB tranche onward since I noticed that the annualized 10-year yield of the July 2018 SSB trance is 2.63% which seems to be the highest annualized 10-year yield of the SSB to-date.

From the graph above which I have charted out to illustrate the average annual yields of the July 2018, August 2018 and September 2018 (so as to compare them), it seems that from July SSB trance to the Sep 2018 tranche, the annual average yields (over the 10-years) has dropped; it would be interesting to note whether this trend would continue with future SSB tranches.
