A POSSIBLE STOCK TO BE PRIVATISED NEXT!

Dear readers, ever since Keppel Corporation and SPH combined forces in a bid to acquire M1 and with Keppel Corporation announcing its plan to take Keppel T&T private, I could sense that Singapore stocks markets which seem to be languishing suddenly feels a sense of excitement! Some investors would have become stirred to guess that in the current lacklustre Singapore stocks markets which offers no clues as to which way ahead is for the stocks, there is one possible theme to consider: possible privatization of Singapore stocks! For such theme is considered rather attractive in the current stocks markets where valuations are cheap.
I know it is time for some investors to go crystal-gazing at which stocks would be the next to be privatized. And I have offered some clues in my previous post and if you have missed the post here is the link  .But in this post, I would share my thoughts on another possible stock which could be privatized and without further ado, let me do the sharing right now!

First, let us trace some history! If investors were to recall, there is some consolidation starting from the transport or logistics sector. First, we had the consolidation of aviation stocks with Tiger Airways being taken private. Then we moved on to the sea: think NOL taken private. Next, we move on to the land: SMRT taken private. Thereafter, what we are seeing now could be the consolidation in the telecom sector: first M1 was taken off the STI, and later Starhub and thereafter Keppel and SPH offered a joint bid to buy over M1.

And if this trend is anything to go by, I believe this trend of consolidating will be extended to other sectors as well. Consolidation of larger players in our Singapore’s landscape to make the sector more competitive and more efficient, updated with the needs of the industry.

If my guess is correct, there will be inevitable consolidation in the offshore and marine industry between Keppel Corporation and Sembcorp Industries. Since Sembcorp Industries has been focusing on urbanization and utilities businesses, I believe Sembcorp Marine, a member of Sembcorp family would be taken private or be merged with the Keppel Corp offshore and marine business so that Sembcorp Utilities would become a pure play for utilities.
