RECEIVED SOME DIVIDENDS BUT ITS NOT FROM MY STOCK HOLDINGS! WHERE COULD IT BE FROM?

Singapore Savings Bonds
Dear readers, recently I updated my bank book and was surprised to note a line entry in it that showed to the effect that I was paid a three-digit dividends. I was quite surprised since my current stocks holding does not have any stock which pays a dividend right at the beginning of the year. I thought that I was wrong and hence I checked the corporate announcements page from SGX for the stocks which I hold. But there is no mistake, this dividends does not come from the stocks I owned. And hence where could these dividends be from?
After much thinking, it dwelled on me that the dividends came from the Jul 18 tranche of the Singapore Savings Bonds and which was the first tranche of Singapore Savings Bonds which I have applied for and was successfully allotted some units. If you could recall, Singapore Savings Bonds pay dividends twice every year at every half-yearly. I am glad hence that the dividends from my Singapore Savings Bonds investment start kicking in.

And as I have bought a number of different Singapore Savings Bonds tranches, there will also be contributions of dividends from the other tranches of the Singapore Savings Bond at different times of the year.

While to be frank, Singapore Savings Bonds pays just a slightly over 2% when annualized on a 10-year holding horizon, I am of the view that it is good to diversify one’s monies.
