Yesterday, I chanced upon a movement called “MINIMALISM SINGAPORE” or “MINIMALIST SINGAPORE” on local television. I was quite surprised that yes, there is a group or movement here in Singapore that supports and endorses the concept of MINIMALISM as more often than not, I heard the concept applied to interior design. But make no mistake, though I have seen how “Minimalism” is more often used in interior design, I already know that MINIMALISM is a concept of life (before Minimalism gains a larger traction of understanding among people here): one associated with a choice on how we could live our lives.

GST TO INCREASE TO 9%, WHAT SHOULD YOU DO NOW?

Dear readers, yes, finally, the government announced that it would increase GST to 9% between 2021 and 2025 as per the Budget Speech delivered by Finance Minister yesterday. While many of us would have already picked up the clues prior to the Budget Speech of an increased GST, I think not many of us would know the exact quantum of GST increase as well as the timeframe of implementation. Hence it is with great relief that we all know that yes GST will increase by 2 percentage points and that the implementation will only start between year 2021 and 2025.

A CONFIRMED 5.3% CAPITAL RETURN FROM THIS STOCK?

Dear readers, just some time ago, Global Yellow Page announced that it will be placing out rights shares priced at 20 cents per share in order to raise some funds for its business expansion. What surprised me was that the right shares at 20cents each was at a premium over the then trading price of Global Yellow Pages stock. Since the announcement of the rights issue, Global Yellow Pages stock price has increased. Based on yesterday’s closing, Global Yellow Pages stock are at 19 cents per share, still below the price of the rights.
