Image
Dear readers, the US stocks markets shed more points overnight with Dow down by 0.80%, Nasdaq by 0.88% and S&P by 0.63%. Based on the technical charts and the macro developments, I have a near-term target of 3,000 and below for the Singapore stocks markets. With the STI at 3,300, that means another 9% to head south for the STI.

ROBERT KIYOSAKI ON ECONOMIC COLLAPSE PREPARATION (June 13, 2018)

Image
Dear readers, as we know, currently the Singapore stocks markets, along with others are not doing well. The Singapore stocks markets are in a downtrend and I believe that is the also true for the other stocks markets. Actually before the current stocks markets downturn, there are a number of gurus out there who predict that stocks markets will head south. Some people call them “perennial bears” and that one day they will be proven correct.

ASTREA IV4.35%B280614: MY QUESTIONS AND QUESTIONS

Image
Dear readers, Temasek’s first retail bond, Astrea IV bond commenced trading on the SGX yesterday. Astrea IV bond was very much oversubscribed due to the strong retail demand for decent yields versus low risk. And the strong appetite simply flowed through to the SGX as Astrea IV bond closed 1$.037 above PAR yesterday (intra lowest at 1.02 and intra highest at 1.04).

STI SOUTHING, WHAT SHOULD INVESTORS DO NOW?

Image
Dear readers, yesterday, the STI closed at 3,324.04 down below the 3,339 support which I have set as per my previous post here . I am not surprised at the downtrending of the STI as what we are looking at now and I have shared my not-so-bullish view of the STI with readers before the southing started (read post here ) . In fact, in the previous few weeks, I have been liquidating my portfolio in anticipation of the southing of the STI.

OVERSOLD STI STOCKS

Image
In my previous post, I shared with readers that currently, the STI is in a downtrend and against this trend, it may not be wise for investors to invest. In this post, I will share with readers which of the STI stocks are currently oversold too (based on RSI) and so here we go.

UOB KAYHIAN: BUY SINGTEL, SELL M1, HOLD STARHUB

Image
Dear readers, UOB KayHian has the following recommendations for the three telco stocks: 1) Buy Singtel 2) Sell M1 3) Hold Starhub

SINGAPORE STOCKS: START OF A DOWNTREND

Image
Dear readers, in my previous post on STI, I shared with readers that the STI ETF level at $3.435 (200-Days-Moving-Average) needs to be looked out for as well as the support for the STI at 3,339. The STI closed at 3,356.73 on 14 Jun 2018 and the STI ETF closed at $3.409. Looking at the technical chart of the STI ETF, the ETF is now below the 200-Days-Moving-Average and based on RSI, the STI ETF is also oversold.

SINGAPORE STOCKS: WHAT INVESTORS NEED TO LOOK OUT FOR NOW?

Image
Dear readers, in an earlier post (you can read this post here ) this month, I shared with readers that the upside for Singapore stocks is limited. Following my post, the larger trend of the STI is south and yesterday, the STI closed at 3,392.51 down 1.11%. Based on the STI ETF, an ETF which tracks the STI, the STI ETF at $3.446 was just a few pips away from $3.435 which is the 200-Days-Moving-Average for the STI ETF. Typically, when a stock price goes below the 200-Days-Moving-Average, the possibility of a longer-term downtrend is higher.

PHILLIP RESEARCH: STOCKS TO BENEFIT FROM TRUMP KIM SUMMIT

Image
Dear readers, Trump-Kim summit may be over but that does not stop the conversation over which stocks will benefit from the summit. In the video below, Phillip Research gave its take on the stocks which could benefit from the summit.

ASTREA IV BONDS: WHAT TO DO IF YOU DO NOT GET?

Image
Dear readers, Astrea IV bonds have been oversubscribed by 740% according to reports. The bonds which were available to retail investors for subscription offer an annual interest of 4.35% per year for a duration of 10 years and the bonds are callable after the first half of this duration of the bonds. With such an attractive interest rate, it is hence no wonder that the bonds are favored by retail investors especially since the other relatively safer bond and which is often tossed by investors for comparison with Astrea IV bonds: the Singapore Saving Bonds offers only close to 1.8% to roughly over 2% interest depending on the period of the holdings. But as I have mentioned in my previous posts, one consideration for the Astrea IV bonds is the lockup period though investors could also choose to sell the bonds through SGX anytime they wish.

MAYBANK KIM ENG: BUY RATING TO THIS STOCK WITH A POTENTIAL UPSIDE OF 47.4%

Image
Dear readers, MayBank Kim Eng has a "Buy" call on this stock with a potential upside of 47.4%. What stock is this?

DISA STOCK: POSSIBLY THE NEXT MULTI-BAGGER?

Image
Dear readers, if you have been following the Singapore stocks markets, you would have noticed one top volume and top gainer stock recently: DISA stock (previously named Equation Summit). DISA’s stock gain has come with a legitimate reason: the business model of DISA in anti-theft technology (called POSA) has investors interested and excited. For myself, I am interested and excited in DISA’s POSA model as not only is POSA technology first in the world but the model is really scalable. What’s more with DISA announcing that it would be most likely exiting from its other business and focusing on its technology segment in its anti-theft technology, this single focus on its POSA business would make DISA a platform stock.

TRUMP-KIM SUMMIT: ONE STOCK TO DEFINITELY BENEFIT?

Will it be the developers of the hotels where Trump, Kim are staying in? Or will it be Hotel Capella? Well, I believe while these hotels will be made very public by the event, the other one venue that would gain the most attention is our Sentosa Island.

TEMASEK RETAIL BOND OR SINGAPORE SAVINGS BONDS?

Image
Dear readers, currently, Temasek Holdings is offering a 10-year bond for retail investors that offers a 4.35% yearly interest. As this is a first retail bond offering from Temasek Holdings, naturally it generates quite a lot of buzz among the investor community. Temasek is a brand name and the yearly interest is also decent. Decent returns and relatively safe and I believe many investors would consider whether to invest in it.

Image
Dear readers, Singapore stocks markets was down and then was up. Fluctuating in tandem with the US and regional stocks markets. Honestly, I think there is nothing bullish about the stocks markets. With the current STI showing, I would set the resistance of the STI at 3,600 level and with this resistance level, the upside would be limited.

SINGAPORE STOCKS MARKETS IS NOW OVERSOLD, WHAT’S NEXT?

Image
Dear readers, the Singapore Stocks Markets is now Oversold from the recent selling sessions. For the month of May 2018, though the common saying “Sell (stocks) in May and Go Away” is not that evident till the bout of selling coming to the close of May 2018, the STI is down 5% just for the month of May. The Singapore Stocks Markets is Oversold technically since the STI ETF (ticker symbol: ES3) which tracks the Singapore Stocks Market’s STI is now Oversold. The last time when the STI ETF was oversold in Apr, the STI ETF was at $3.35, thereafter, the Singapore stocks markets rebounded, pushing the STI higher back again and the STI ETF reached a peak of $3.63 in early May 2018, representing a more than 8% increase. This time round, with the STI Oversold, will investors see a rebounding of the STI again back like the rebound from the lows reached in Apr 2018?
