NOVEMBER 2018 SINGAPORE SAVINGS BONDS: A VERY GOOD FIRST-YEAR RETURN!

Dear readers, the November 2018 Singapore Savings Bond is open for application. In what could be a response to the very modest take-up rate for the Oct 2018 Singapore Savings Bond tranche (the amount applied was less than the amount open for subscription: one of the very rare cases this was so), the first-year return of the Nov 2018 tranche of the Savings Bond is as high as 1.80%!
Singapore Savings Bonds

How high is 1.80% as a return for the first year of the monthly Singapore Savings Bonds tranche? Well, higher than the first-year tranche of all the recent tranches of the Singapore Savings Bonds, including the Aug 18 tranche, which offers 1.78%, the highest to-date before the offer of the Nov 2018 tranche.

In previous postings in relation to the Singapore Savings Bonds, I have relied on charts to compare the returns among the different monthly tranches of the Singapore Savings Bonds. For this post, I did a comparison using a table, as above. Think and hope it will be more useful to you as a reference guide.

As you could notice from the chart, the more impressing feature of the Nov 2018 Singapore Savings Bonds tranche is its 1.80% return for the first year of holding. Apart from that, the returns are somehow only comparable or slightly better than the previous tranches of the Bonds.
